Position Overview

The User Experience Design (XD) Manager at Autodesk will be a visionary leader, a systems thinker, and an advocate for exceptional design. This role requires a confident design perspective, thoughtful collaboration, and user-centric innovation. The manager will lead a multidisciplinary Experience Design team and collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, Software Architects, and Agile teams to create best-in-class experiences for Product Design and Make Solutions (PDMS) users.

The position focuses on designing workflows and interactions that streamline product development cycles for designers, engineers, and manufacturers. It also involves maintaining a close relationship with users to understand their needs and improve in-progress solutions.

This is a full-time position, hybrid, based in the UK.

The PDMS XD team is a global design team that supports the PDMS portfolio with a primary focus on Fusion. Our tools and services are integral to users' daily workflows, enabling them to achieve their business goals. Our design team ensures we deeply understand user needs and workflows to create experiences that deliver outstanding value and drive business success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the UX strategy by creating strategic plans that align with the design system, corporate brand, and business objectives.
  • Lead and mentor team members, provide performance feedback, and make key hiring decisions to grow and strengthen the team.
  • Foster a positive team culture and uphold team values.
  • Onboard and support new hires to ensure their success.
  • Collaborate with peers and cross-functional leaders to prioritize and allocate resources effectively for the XD team.
  • Communicate regularly with leadership and other teams about progress, upcoming work, and requests.
  • Advocate for user perspectives by actively listening, observing, and engaging with users.
  • Facilitate design thinking workshops and translate user insights into actionable product directions.
  • Promote simplicity and ease-of-use in solutions, even for complex software applications.
  • Inspire and motivate the team to continually improve and explore innovative solutions.
  • Work with other design teams to align with and contribute to the Autodesk Design System.
  • Demonstrate expertise in user experience design and research, including information architecture, prototyping, testing, visual design, and wireframing.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and proactively enhance design strategies and practices.
  • Iterate on solutions by identifying and addressing design issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in User Experience (UX) or Interaction Design (HCI).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders, including Product Managers, Product Owners, and Software Architects.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing team progress, relationships, and professional growth.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through problem analysis, user workflow understanding, and prototype creation for complex challenges.
  • Fluency in English, with the ability to engage with US-based stakeholders and users effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interaction Design, HCI, or a related field.
  • Experience in hiring, interviewing, and fostering team growth.
  • Knowledge of creating resilient, cloud-based service experiences.
  • Familiarity with product design and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Autodesk software or equivalent competitive platforms.
  • Proficiency in Agile/Lean software design and development methodologies.
