The Cloud Team is responsible for designing, building, and supporting a highly available and fault-tolerant platform for our customer-facing and corporate systems, with a focus on autoscaling and observability. A typical day involves a mix of project and business-as-usual work, where you will be delivering solutions utilising established and bleeding-edge technology.

Our favourite time of year is Spring Carnival, where our platform experiences a massive surge of traffic, and all our hard work is put to the test! Culminating in the race that stops the nation, we operate at a massive scale with hundreds of servers running thousands of service instances to handle millions of requests per second.

Where And How You Can Work...

This position can be based in any of our offices across Australia or New Zealand. We embrace flexibility by offering a hybrid working model, allowing employees to spend two days a week in the office to promote work-life balance and accommodate individual preferences. This role is open to remote candidates across Australia & New Zealand.

Your Day-to-Day...

• Work effectively both as an individual and as part of a project team to deliver cloud-based projects.
• Design elastically scalable and highly available systems that utilise modern, cloud-based architectures and solutions.
• Deploy applications to cloud environments with Infrastructure as Code and Config as Code patterns and toolsets.
• Deploy monitoring and alerting solutions to track resource utilization, performance metrics, and platform/application health.
• Ensure all work delivered complies with regulatory requirements, and security best practices and has a strong focus on privacy.
• Collaborate with other Cloud Engineers, Site Reliability Engineers, and Software Engineers including mentoring, sharing knowledge, and writing documentation.
• Confirm and clarify requirements, including offering alternative paths to achieve a better outcome.
• Debug, diagnose, and troubleshoot faults and manage incident responses.
• Contribute documentation and process improvements to streamline efficiency.

What You'll Bring...

• Knowledge of core AWS services (IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, etc.).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform in particular, but experience with others such as Ansible, Puppet, Pulumi, etc. is also highly regarded).
• Experience with containerisation (Docker) and Linux.
• Experience with Kubernetes (and other CNCF landscape tools).
• Strong scripting skills (Shell, Python, etc.).
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking and TCP and HTTP reverse proxying.
• Strong troubleshooting and investigation skills (DNS, TCP, and HTTP/CDN, etc.).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab, Argo CD, etc.).
