Role title: Commercial Analyst 

Work: Hybrid / Manchester (4 days per month in the office)

Our company is the largest and longest-standing entity within Team17 Group Plc, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange (AIM market) and includes our sister companies StoryToys and Astragon. 

 

What You Will Be Doing 

  • Powering the Business Intelligence team by designing and enhancing data models to help guide business-critical decisions in the fast-paced world of gaming, with a focus on key areas such as new product launches, pricing & sales forecasting  
  • Uncovering trends, patterns, and hidden opportunities within large datasets to help us stay ahead in the competitive gaming landscape. 
  • Optimizing and refining our forecasting models to make sure we’re always one step ahead in predicting sales and revenue patterns. 
  • Building robust data solutions that help cross-functional teams (like marketing, sales, and development) make data-driven decisions aligned with our players' behaviours and our business goals. 
  • Partnering closely with teams across sales, finance, and marketing to gather insights and provide clear, actionable recommendations that keep our business moving forward. 

 

Your Day-To-Day 

  • Crafting complex, game-focused data models in Excel and performing advanced analytics that directly impact our commercial strategy. 
  • Collaborating with Business Intelligence and cross-functional teams to create dynamic Power BI dashboards and reports that bring commercial data to life, delivering real-time insights tailored to stakeholder needs across the gaming industry. 
  • Delivering regular performance forecasts for game titles, identifying gaps, and offering strategies to enhance accuracy and drive success in our revenue streams. 
  • Presenting findings and recommendations to senior leaders with clear, accessible storytelling, translating complex data into game-changing insights. 
  • Staying adaptable and prioritizing multiple projects, responding to changing needs in the ever-evolving gaming industry, from new game launches to evolving player trends. 

 

What You’ll Need 

  • Data Analysis: A knack for diving deep into datasets, uncovering key insights, and providing recommendations that help shape both gameplay and business success. 
  • Numerical Proficiency: Strong mathematical and statistical skills for quantitative analysis; able to interpret numbers that impact everything from in-game purchases to player engagement. 
  • Gaming-Savvy Business Acumen: A strong understanding of KPIs, commercial metrics, and how player behaviour translates to revenue, profit margins, and overall game performance. 
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with proficiency in the likes of Power BI, Tableau, and PowerPoint to create visually compelling dashboards and presentations that tell a story; able to confidently deliver insights to inspire both technical and non-technical stakeholders, from game developers to senior executives. 
  • Technical Skills: Advanced Excel expertise, a foundational understanding of Python (or eagerness to learn), and at least three years of experience building complex models in a fast-paced industry. 

 

Recruitment Process 

  • Initial Screening Interview: Conducted by Talent Acquisition to assess basic qualifications and overall suitability for the role. 
  • Phase 1 – Competency Interview: A 30-minute Teams interview with the Senior Commercial Analyst (Hiring Manager) and Senior Reporting Analyst. This stage focuses on evaluating role-specific competencies and assessing alignment with the Business Intelligence team’s culture. 
  • Phase 2 – Task-Based Interview: A 45-minute Teams interview, including a presentation. The candidate will receive raw sales data in advance and will be asked to create and deliver a presentation, showcasing their analytical and presentation skills to key stakeholders from Business Intelligence, Sales, and Finance.
