Job Summary
Job Description
As a Data Science Team Lead at Dolap (Trendyol's second-hand platform), you'll enhance buyer/seller experiences and optimize operations. You'll leverage ML-Ops, improve models and infrastructure, and collaborate with stakeholders to identify data-driven business solutions. Responsibilities include synthesizing data into actionable strategies, communicating findings to engineering/management, and employing an iterative MVP approach. The role requires expertise in various machine learning techniques, e-commerce, search ranking algorithms, and big data technologies (Spark is a plus). You'll work within a large data science department (90+ people) in a dynamic and fast growing company.
Must have:
- 5+ years of ML experience (classification, regression, etc.)
- E-commerce domain and search engine tech understanding
- Expertise with large datasets and various data science areas
- Experience with experimentation and causal analysis
- Expert knowledge of Python, SQL (Spark a plus)
- Cloud experience (Google Cloud preferred)

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data Science department in Trendyol consists of 90+ talented data scientists organized under several domains. Each domain is autonomous and empowered to experiment with new ideas while cross-collaboration is strongly encouraged with horizontal structures.
- As a Data Science Team Lead within the Dolap Application domain, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing buyer and seller experiences and optimizing operations for one of the most popular second-hand e-commerce platforms.
- Apply best practices for working with ML-Ops infrastructure, improve models and infrastructure to optimize the overall experience.
- Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
- Synthesize methodology and data into actionable business strategy and communicate findings to engineering and management teams as driving business impact.

QUALITIES WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 5+ years of proven experience in a variety of machine learning modeling techniques—including classification, regression, learning to rank algorithms, clustering, and gradient boosting—coupled with a profound understanding of deep learning frameworks.
- Understanding of ecommerce domain and search engine technologies.
- Familiarity with search ranking algorithms, information retrieval techniques, and deep learning based CTR models.
- Familiarity with libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, xgboost and lightgbm.
- Proven expertise working with large data sets in multiple Data Science areas such as: Statistical Methods (e.g. Testing, GLM, Inference), Statistical/Machine Learning (e.g. Dimension Reduction, Clustering, Neural networks, Regularisation, Bagged/Boosted methods), Time Series, Natural Language Processing, etc.
- Experience with experimentation and causal observational analysis.
- Expert knowledge of Python, SQL (Spark or similar big data technologies is a plus)
- Experience in Cloud based environments, specifically Google.
- Possesses strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights.
- Approaches challenges with a solution-oriented mindset, capable of troubleshooting issues and overcoming obstacles

We offer a hybrid model that combines the productivity of remote work with the bonding and collaboration of in-office work. Teams are expected to work from our offices on designated days each week, fostering team spirit, creativity and cross team collaboration as part of our culture.
We also provide a summer working model, with a two-month fully remote work opportunity during July and August.
The hybrid working model only applies to hybrid roles; on-site roles require regular office presence.
