FitXR is a fitness technology company working at the cutting edge of VR and MR, building a movement for movement. Our mission is to make the world a healthier place with the world's most loved fitness product: to create a Movement for Movement.

We started life in 2016 in a garden shed in the UK. Today, we’re building FitXR, one of the top-downloaded apps on the Meta Quest store. We’ve raised close to $30m from top investors such as Maveron, Hiro, and BoostVC.

We've built a growing range of fitness studios, from box workouts with world-class trainers like Olympian Nicola Adams to immersive Zumba dance classes. While nothing compares to trying it yourself, you can watch a trailer here.

TLDR

As the Head of Talent, you’ll play a critical role in how we attract and engage top talent, and ensure they thrive at FitXR. You will set the direction and priorities for the Talent & People team, and influence the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to hold themselves accountable for nurturing talent and driving high performance in their teams. This role requires a hands-on approach with a 0-1 startup mentality, where you’re just as comfortable getting into the details as you are thinking strategically.

Where you’ll spend your time

  • Set the direction and priorities for the Talent & People team, coaching and developing team members to excel in their roles.

  • Own the talent acquisition process, sourcing and engaging top-tier candidates, including hands-on hiring for executive and critical senior roles.

  • Lead workforce planning and ensure hiring priorities align with business goals, proactively talent pooling for future talent gaps or opportunities.

  • Responsible for the end-to-end employee lifecycle, from onboarding to performance and reward to offboarding.

  • Coaching and training managers in leading high performing teams, setting clear expectations, rewarding and retaining their top talent.

  • Work closely with the SLT and managers to ensure accountability in talent management, ensuring FitXR remains an environment for top talent to grow and succeed.

  • Lead the ongoing development and refinement of FitXR’s EVP, ensuring this is embedded through hiring, performance and employee development practices.

  • Act as the escalation point for complex employee relations issues, working with our legal support to ensure fair outcomes.


We’d love to see from you

  • Experience in a senior Talent leadership role where you’ve stretched into People operations and projects - with a proven track record of building high-performing teams.

  • Tech startup experience, with a 0-1 mindset.

  • A strong background in executive-level recruitment and hiring for business critical, atypical roles.

  • Comfort in balancing strategic thinking with hands-on involvement in hiring, projects and day-to-day people and talent operations.

  • Experience in shaping and fostering a global, remote-first culture.

  • Strong communication skills, both synchronous and asynchronous.

Logistics 🛠

Our interview process takes place on Google Hangouts and tends to consist of the following stages:

  • Initial screen with the talent team

  • Hiring Manager (CEO) / technical interview

  • Culture Interview with Team

  • Exec Interview

Some roles will have extra stages but we’ll let you know as early as possible if so.
