Job Description

This is a summer internship opportunity within TransUnion's Identity team. The intern will work on designing and developing methods for measuring, analyzing, and monitoring identity data quality. The role involves assisting with data quality measurement techniques, developing a user interface for data scientists, creating operational dashboards and reports, updating and maintaining internal web pages, maintaining data dictionaries, and analyzing new data assets. The internship includes career development workshops, networking events, and guest speakers. The intern will gain experience in data science, big data technologies, and UI development.
Must have:
  • Experience in data science and data analytics
  • Pursuing a relevant undergraduate degree
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies
  • Experience writing SQL queries
  • Strong written language skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with UI development technologies (HTML, JavaScript)
  • Experience in Linux command-line tools, bash scripting
  • Familiarity with interactive data visualization tools (Tableau)
  • Working experience or certification in AWS Cloud technology

TransUnion’s Identity team is looking for an experienced data science analyst to help design and develop methods for measuring, analyzing and monitoring our identity data quality. We manage the big data platform that empowers TransUnion’s global team of world-class analysts and data scientists. We seek an intern to assist with our data quality measurement methods and identity data research.

What You'll Bring:

  • Experience and high interest in data science and data analytics
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in information systems, computer science, analytics, or business with technical coursework.
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies including Apache Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Python, etc.
  • Experience writing SQL queries.
  • Strong written language skills and familiarity with technical documents such as data dictionaries and process flow diagrams. Able to write instructions and procedural documentation.

We'd love to see:

  • Experience with UI development technologies like HTML, JavaScript, and other tools in prototyping UI design.
  • Experience in Linux command-line tools, bash scripting and Ab Initio ETL technologies.
  • Familiarity with interactive data visualization tools like Tableau.
  • Working experience or certification in AWS Cloud technology

Impact You'll Make:

  • Assist with development and analysis of identity data using advanced data science techniques. Help develop data quality measurement techniques.
  • Assist with developing a user interface, geared towards hundreds of data scientists who are using the Big Data platform, in finding various data assets and other capabilities within the platform.
  • Produce operational dashboards and reports to manage this critical Big Data platform.
  • Update and maintain internal web pages to track and report on data assets.
  • Maintain data dictionaries and prepare documentation of data analyses performed.
  • Analyze and evaluating new data assets TransUnion is interested in.


 

Our Summer Internship Program will allow you to use & develop the skills you've learned in school while participating in engaging events such as: career development workshops, networking events, and guest speakers throughout this paid 12-week internship beginning in May or June, depending on academic calendar.
