Job Description
This senior-level Java DB Engineer role at Ness Romania SRL requires 8-10 years of experience in Java J2EE web application development. Responsibilities include delivering business value through application development and enhancements, collaborating with team members, independently executing complex technical requirements, and contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate possesses strong Java, Spring, and database skills (Postgres/Oracle), experience with API development and DevOps (ADO Git, Jenkins, CI/CD), and familiarity with stream processing platforms (Kafka, etc.) and Kubernetes.
Must have:
- 8-10 years Java J2EE web app development
- 5+ years Hibernate/JPA, Spring, RESTful services
- Postgres/Oracle PL/SQL experience
- API development and management expertise
- DevOps (ADO Git, Jenkins, CI/CD)
- Test-Driven Development and Automation
- Experience with stream/messaging platforms
- Agile development methodology
Good to have:
- AWS experience
- AngularJS/React/JavaScript UI development
- NoSQL database experience (DynamoDB)
- Secure coding tools (Fortify, Sonar)
- Log analytics experience

Requirements and responsibilities
What you’ll do
- Deliver business value through application development and enhancements.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and responsibility with assignments. This includes gathering and understanding requirements, technical specifications, design, architecture, implementation, unit testing, builds/deployments, and code management.
- Collaborate with onsite and offsite team members effectively.
- Should independently drive and execute complex technical requirements.
- Be a self-starter that is also an excellent team player.
- Strong software skills and be able to proactively analyze and critique software stack.
- Strong programming and data structure skills, be able to work in multithreaded programming env.
What you’ll bring
Must Have
- 8-10 years in Java J2EE building web applications.
- 5+ years of experience with related frameworks and technologies (Hibernate/JPA, Restful services Spring JDBC, MVC etc.)
- Significant knowledge of Postgres/Oracle PL/SQL or equivalent SQL with complex Databases.
- Experience working with web technologies like Apache/jetty.
- Good experience with API Development and Management.
- 5+ Years of Experience with Service API Development
- Working knowledge of Dev-Ops: ADO Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines.
- Understanding of Test-Driven Development practices as well as Automation and Unit Testing.
- Strong Analytical Skills.
- Experience Architecting and developing large scale Enterprise applications.
- Experience working with Stream or messaging platforms such as Apache flume, Kafka, Kinesis, Red Panda etc. (Minimum 2+ years’ experience)
- Experienced in agile development methodology.
- Experience working with Complex event processing tech such as Esper, WSO2, Flink.
- Experience working with Kubernetes (deployment units, pods, autoscaling, helm charts) (minimum 1+ year experience)
Good To have
- Experience working with cloud technologies specially AWS Services. (Minimum 1+ year experience)
- Any experience in building applications for financial industry is a plus
- Any experience in in UI development using Angular JS, React, JavaScript, HTML5 & CSS is plus.
- Experience working with No SQL databases such as Apache DynamoDB a plus (Minimum 1+ year experience)
- Experience working with Secure coding tools such as fortify, sonar a plus. (Minimum 1+ year experience)
- Experience working with Log analytics a plus.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Candidates without Computer Science or Information Technology degree should have significant work experience.
