Job Summary

Job Description

The Junior Technical Designer at Ubisoft Da Nang will support fast prototyping and integration of game and level design. Responsibilities include understanding design requirements and constraints, defining technical solutions, documenting tools and pipelines, implementing game content in the game engine, identifying and escalating risks, providing team support and guidance, and proposing innovative solutions for pipeline efficiency and data optimization. This role requires experience in game design or level design with a technical focus, a blend of design and technical skills, proficiency in game engines (e.g., Unreal Blueprint), and understanding of procedural systems. The ideal candidate will be a curious problem-solver passionate about video games and possess excellent organizational and teamwork skills.

  • Understand the requirements and constraints of game, design, engine and platform; 

  • Provide technical support for fast prototyping and integration of Game Design and Level Design; 

  • Proactively identify and define technical solutions for various gameplay and systemic features in collaboration with Design, Art and Programming teams; 

  • Understand, collect and share best practices, pipeline and workflows; 

  • Document tools and pipeline and ensure that team members have all the necessary tools and information to use them; 

  • Design, implementation and review game content into game engine; 

  • Identify, communicate and escalate any risks or dependencies related to the feature / content integration in game; 

  • Provide team members with any needed support such as direction, guidance and assistance; 

  • Ensure that the other members involved in the project have all the necessary information; 

  • Coming with creative ideas and solutions to improving the efficiency on the integration pipeline and the optimization and validation of the game data; 

Qualifications

  • Experience in game design or level design (with a technical or integration focus)

  • Provide a balanced blend of Design skills and Technical know-how

  • A curious Designer with an interest in world building and hands-on content implementation

  •  Interested in problem solving, troubleshooting and investigating Tech Issues

  • Understand how to work with procedural systems and generative tools; can quickly grasp how they affect the bigger picture

  • Technical knowledge of game engine, game editor and visual programming (ex. Unreal blueprint) 

  • Understand the requirements and constraints of game design, engine and platform

  • Basic understanding of script languages is a plus

  • Relevant experience in working on AAA titles is a plus

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the video game development process

  • Ability to work under pressure with pre-established constraints

  • Leadership skills and the ability to work within a team

  • Excellent organization skills and ability to structure one’s own work and that of the team

  • A passion for video games as well as significant in-depth knowledge of the field
