Job Description

As a Manufacturing Test Engineer at Motive, you will be responsible for developing manufacturing test plans and ensuring the quality of products for all Motive products. You will collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and external JDM partners to design, execute, and optimize the manufacturing test plan for NPI hardware projects from concept to launch, as well as provide support to sustaining products. You will need hands-on experience with deep subject matter expertise in the manufacturing test domain, including power, RF, audio, camera, air leakage, and automation tests. You will also need the ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate a commitment to supporting multiple projects simultaneously.
Must have:
  • Develop manufacturing test plans with partners
  • Collaborate with teams to understand hardware and software functions
  • Lead test plan discussions and drive failure analysis
  • Provide expertise to optimize test plans for high-volume manufacturing
  • Provide manufacturing test audit and hands-on support
  • Familiarity with programming and communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C)
  • Strong foundational knowledge in power circuit, RF, sensors, camera, audio, or air leakage test
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

About the Role: 

As a Manufacturing Test Engineer at Motive, you will be responsible for manufacturing test plan development and quality of products for all Motive products. You will collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and external JDM partners to design/execute/optimize the manufacturing test plan for NPI hardware projects from concept till launch as well as provide support to sustaining products. You will show hands-on experience with deep subject matter expertise in the manufacturing test domain (power, RF, audio, camera, air leakage, automation test) and the ability to communicate effectively. You will also show a commitment to support multiple projects at the same time. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Work closely with the internal engineering team as well as manufacturing partners to develop a comprehensive manufacturing test plan 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to understand hardware and software function design and then translate that into scalable manufacturing test requirements 
  • Lead manufacturing test plan discussions and drive failure analysis/corrective action with key stakeholders to improve manufacturing quality and yield rate
  • Provide subject matter expertise to optimize test plans and specifications so that there is adequate test coverage for high volume manufacturing
  • Provide manufacturing test audit and hands-on support during NPI builds at manufacturing partner sites
  • Deliver status report to cross functional team meeting when needed

What We’re Looking For: 

  • 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing test of high volume electronics (Consumer Electronics, Automotive, Medical devices) 
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience developing and executing manufacturing tests for end to end manufacturing including SMT, module assemblies, FATP and Packing
  • 3+ years of proven track record of leading manufacturing test discussions with manufacturing partners, 3rd party test equipment vendors as well as internal engineering and supply chain teams 
  • 3+ years of proven track record of debugging manufacturing test issues with key stakeholders and drive towards issue resolution 
  • Familiarity with programming and standard communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C. Also strong foundational knowledge in power circuit, RF, sensors, battery, camera, audio or air leakage test
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill
