Job Description:
The Monitoring Engineer II is both a technical and business collaboration role supporting Russell Investments’ compute infrastructure. You will directly support mission critical servers across all Russell Investments’ global sites and partner with management in Seattle, WA. Technical knowledge and experience supporting Solarwinds, Windows servers, Linux Servers, and VMware environments are a must.
Years of Experience
3-6 years of relevant industry experience
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business or Engineering. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Troubleshooting performance related issues
- Experience in IT service delivery using the ITIL framework
- Demonstrated experience working as part of a high performing team
- Ability to communicate complex technical details to all levels of management
- Expertise in understanding, setting, and managing customer expectations
- Ability to understand and solve complex problems quickly
- Experience supporting enterprise monitoring and alerting tools for servers, databases, and networks
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day operational support and maintenance (including patching and upgrading) of the compute environments
- Task delegation and work oversight of junior and intermediate level Systems Engineers
- Maintains detailed documentation and inventory of all managed environments
- Responsible for timely on-call response to incidents
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company data without exception
- Maintain an instant and trending view of the health of the infrastructure
- Participate in other IT projects and/or tasks as needed
- Operational management and support of enterprise monitoring tools with integration into ITSM software
Candidate Requirements
- Expert Level Solarwinds Knowledge
- Experience in administering Microsoft Windows Server
- Experience in administering Linux Servers
- Experience with Jira Service Management
- Familiarity with Active Directory
- VMware – vCenter, ESXi and vSAN (HCI)
- Server hardware support and configuration (preferably Dell PowerEdge)
- Scripting (e.g. PowerShell, Perl, etc.)
- Desired certifications: MCSE, VCP
