Job Description

The Professional Services Director serves as a liaison between Field Operations and the PMO/Delivery Practices, understanding the needs of higher education institutions. Responsibilities include forecasting and mitigating prospect concerns, responding to needs, collaborating on proposals, delivering presentations, and managing resources. The role requires strong communication, presentation, and project management skills, along with experience in higher education tech implementation (LMS, SIS, CRM). The Director will also ensure smooth transitions from prospect to customer, engaging in continuous improvement of project delivery and staying abreast of industry trends.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 12+ years experience
  • 3+ years senior-level PS experience
  • Higher Ed tech implementation experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Project management skills
Good to have:
  • Anthology implementation methodology knowledge
  • Familiarity with Canvas, D2L, Ellucian, etc.
  • Microsoft D365, Azure knowledge
  • Multilingual skills (Portuguese preferred)

The Professional Services Director serves as a partner to Anthology Field Operations in the identification, cultivation, and closure of strategic opportunities. This individual will represent Anthology Services – specifically from the vantage point of Services Delivery – in ensuring that its value proposition, resource experience, implementation approach, and methodology are articulated in a responsive, timely, and intelligible way, during the sales cycle. Critically, the Director will also provide continuity and drive knowledge-transfer, as institutions move from prospect to customer, and are handed off to Professional Services Delivery and Customer Experience teams for implementation.  

 

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the liaison between Field Operations and the PMO/Delivery Practices
  • Understanding the needs and expectations of targeted higher education institutions
  • Forecasting and mitigating prospect concerns related to project implementation and governance
  • Responding promptly to prospect needs and communicating with confidence and passion using domain and implementation expertise
  • Collaborating effectively with the Anthology proposal team to produce high quality RFP responses
  • Participating in the preparation and delivery of demos, presentations, and contract negotiations
  • Establishing and maintaining reference lists across regions, solution areas, and other criteria as defined
  • Participating in recurring regional sales team meetings
  • Participating in conferences and webinars, as needed
  • Participating in project onboarding and kickoff activities, as needed
  • Assisting in professional services’ capacity planning and resource assignment through the development of a demand model, based on sales pipeline
  • Reaching back to closed deals to ensure alignment of the customer implementation experience to commitments expressed during the sales process
  • Engaging in the continuous improvement of project onboarding and delivery
  • Staying apprised of industry trends and competitor win-strategies in the area of project delivery
  • Collaborating, developing, and executing a growth strategy for Education, Managed, Professional and Student Success services in conjunction with the Business Development team
  • Managing assigned resources (e.g. Solutions & Delivery Manager)

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 12 years of overall experience
  • 3 or more years of senior-level Professional Services experience
  • Higher Education tech implementation experience in LMS, SIS, and/or CRM solutions
  • Understanding of the Higher Education landscape respective to institutional type, organizational structure, and departmental responsibilities
  • Great oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Must be open to travel when necessary
  • Highly organized with exceptional eye for detail
  • Strong documentation skills to facilitate knowledge transfer
  • Takes a strategic approach to work
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to maintain a positive outlook in the face of deadlines and adversity
  • Natural storyteller and passion for presenting solutions to solve problems
  • Able to make effective presentations
  • Able to articulate and logically communicate process steps
  • Able to prioritize work and strong project management skills
  • Able to meet deadlines, follow up on commitments, and act as needed
  • Team player with ability to develop and maintain internal and external professional relationships
  • Fluency in written and spoken English at CEF B2 level or above

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Prior experience with Anthology’s implementation methodology and customer lifecycle
  • Familiarity with Higher Education software from Canvas, D2L, Ellucian, Jenzabar, Workday, or Microsoft Dynamics
  • Microsoft skill set - D365, Azure knowledge
  • Multilingual skills (Portuguese preferred)
