As a Senior BackEnd Engineer, you will be responsible for developing scalable backend services, designing complex database solutions, and creating fast, scalable, and responsive APIs. You will work daily with AWS and collaborate within cross-functional teams. The role requires ownership and independent problem-solving. Responsibilities include developing and designing backend services, databases, and APIs, working with AWS, and collaborating in cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java Spring Boot or Scala, experience with cloud-native applications (AWS preferred), and proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB).
Must have:
- 3-4+ years coding experience
- Java Spring Boot or Scala
- OO/FP, API design
- Cloud-native apps (AWS)
- SQL & NoSQL (DDB) databases
- Kafka
Good to have:
- ElasticSearch
- Javascript/Typescript
- DevOps (DataDog, Opsgenie)
- Fluent English

About the client:
Our customer is the European online car market with over 30 million monthly users with a market presence in 18 countries. As a Senior BackEnd Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of online car markets and enhancing the user experience for millions of car buyers and sellers.
Responsibilities:
- Developing scalable backend services
- Designing complex database solutions
- Designing fast, scalable, and responsive APIs
- Day-to-day work with AWS
- Working in cross-functional teams
- Ready to take ownership and independently drive topics
Requirements:
Must-Have Qualifications:
- At least 3-4+ years of hands-on coding experience
- Java Spring Boot or Scala knowledge
- Experience with Object Oriented/Functional Programming
- Designing fast, scalable, and responsive APIs
- Experience developing cloud-native apps - AWS is preferable
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL (DDB) databases
- Experience with Kafka
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with Search databases - ElasticSearch
- Frontend experience - Javascript or Typescript
- Devops Experience - DataDog, Opsgenie etc.
Soft skills:
- Good communication skills (fluent English, at least Upper-Intermediate)
- Experience working in cross-functional teams
- Ready to take ownership
- Problem-solving skills
