As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will develop scalable backend services, design complex database solutions, and build fast, responsive APIs. You will work daily with AWS, collaborate in cross-functional teams, and take ownership of projects. Responsibilities include enhancing the online car market's user experience for millions of users across 18 countries. The role requires expertise in Java Spring Boot or Scala, experience with cloud-native applications (AWS preferred), SQL and NoSQL databases, and Kafka.
Must have:
- 3-4+ years coding experience
- Java Spring Boot or Scala
- OO/Functional Programming
- Fast, scalable APIs
- Cloud-native apps (AWS)
- SQL & NoSQL (DDB) databases
- Kafka
Good to have:
- ElasticSearch
- Javascript/Typescript
- DevOps (DataDog, Opsgenie)

Job Details
Our customer is the European online car market with over 30 million monthly users, with a market presence in 18 countries. As a Senior BackEnd Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of online car markets and enhancing the user experience for millions of car buyers and sellers.
Responsibilities:
- Developing scalable backend services
- Designing complex database solutions
- Designing fast, scalable, and responsive APIs
- Day-to-day work with AWS
- Working in cross-functional teams
- Ready to take ownership and independently drive topics
Requirements:
Must-Have Qualifications:
- At least 3-4+ years of hands-on coding experience
- Java Spring Boot or Scala knowledge
- Experience with Object Oriented/Functional Programming
- Designing fast, scalable, and responsive APIs
- Experience developing cloud-native apps - AWS is preferable
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL (DDB) databases
- Experience with Kafka
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with Search databases - ElasticSearch
- Frontend experience - Javascript or Typescript
- Devops Experience - DataDog, Opsgenie etc.
Soft skills:
- Good communication skills (fluent English, at least Upper-Intermediate)
- Experience working in cross-functional teams
- Ready to take ownership
- Problem-solving skills
