Senior Financial Accountant

Location: Basingstoke (3 days per week minimum, plus remote work)

As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a critical role within the Hawk-Eye team and Sony’s Global Finance Accounting Team. You’ll regularly interact with Sony’s wider group functions, including Global Treasury, Corporate Control and Planning, Global Tax, and BPO.

Reporting to our Finance and Accounting Manager, you will ensure accurate and timely reporting to the Group and external stakeholders in compliance with IFRS. You’ll oversee key Record to Report processes while collaborating with both onshore and offshore teams.

In this role, you are primarily responsible for preparing the Branches annual account and tax preparation, while maintaining effective internal controls in line with group and statutory compliance requirements.

Other key responsibilities include reviewing and validating the finance fixed asset ledger to ensure alignment with the equipment subledger system, reviewing and validating revenue and cost recognition schedules and ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are up to date.

You will be a key point of contact for P&L owners throughout the business, in addition to supporting other non-finance staff.

Your Key Responsibilities

Controllership

• Prepare and coordinate month-end close schedules.

• Produce monthly financial reporting packs, including detailed analysis.

• Prepare and validate journal entries.

• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts.

• Manage annual financial statement preparation and audit processes.

• Ensure timely and accurate statutory accounts and tax return submissions for Hawk-Eye UK, its branches, and subsidiaries.

• Collaborate with service providers and Sony’s Global Tax Office to meet compliance requirements.

• Drive improvements in SAP setups to enhance statutory reporting and compliance.

• Utilise tools like Workiva for statutory accounting to achieve greater accuracy and efficiency.

• Support the implementation of SAP4HANA ERP systems.

• Improve and harmonise accounting practices to align with group policies.

• Periodically review and validate fixed asset ledgers and revenue/cost schedules.

• Proactively identify risks and opportunities to align with forecast planning.

Financial / Technical Compliance

• Provide financial and technical accounting guidance.

• Manage compliance for SOX/internal controls and other statutory requirements.

• Handle system and entity integration projects in line with Global Process Models.

• Ensure accurate cash flow forecasting in coordination with Sony Global Treasury Services.

• Support global tax functions by providing necessary general ledger information.

• Ensure timely submission of VAT returns, Intrastat, and corporate tax filings.

Your Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

• 5+ years of accounting experience.

• Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or international equivalent).

• Expertise in Branch Accounting and knowledge of tax laws and GAAP.

• Advanced SAP expertise in FICO, SRM, BW, and Power BI.

• Strong financial analysis, organizational, and communication skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

• Experience in service-based businesses and outsourced partnerships.

• A proactive approach to driving change in a lean accounting environment.
