Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior HR Manager to join our People Team in Bangalore. This role will oversee all HR operations in India, acting as a coach and mentor to the HR team—whether they report directly or indirectly. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of core HR processes and procedures, fostering a positive workplace culture, and supporting the success of our business in Bangalore.
Key Responsibilities
1. Scaling and Recruitment
Foster collaboration and synergy between the leadership teams in Bangalore, the UK, and Ireland, ensuring effective engagement and communication.
Play a key role in the interview process for senior roles, ensuring new hires align with Version 1’s culture and support our growth objectives.
Drive recruitment strategies to attract exceptional talent with the skills and mindset to enable company expansion.
2. People Operations
Establish and maintain robust systems for statutory compliance, controls, procedures, policies, and guidelines.
Build and manage the People Operations team in India as the organization scales.
Ensure the timely and accurate execution of quarterly business cycles, including performance reviews, pay cycles, and employee surveys.
Collaborate with Group People Operations and Bangalore Leadership to provide insightful reporting and analysis for decision-making.
Serve as the regional employee relations expert, providing strategic counsel and guidance on complex issues and upholding professionalism and ethics.
3. Talent & Development
Implement the Group CPD (Continuous Professional Development) framework and progression approach in India, aligning with company goals and enabling career growth.
Partner with the Organizational Development team to identify and support participants for programs such as Strength in Balance, Empowered Manager, and Balanced Leadership.
Identify and facilitate training and development interventions to enhance team skills and meet both business and career aspirations.
4. Compensation & Benefits
Lead the evolution of compensation, reward, and recognition strategies to reflect market trends and organizational needs.
Oversee benchmarking, transparency, and compensation reviews for India operations.
Ensure pay policies, processes, bandings, and structures meet both business and employee needs.
Collaborate with the compensation and benefits team to create compelling packages for India-based employees.
5. Employee Experience & Communications
Drive employee engagement and build a positive, innovative, and high-performance culture.
Champion the “moments that matter” programme and “work-life fit” approach, supporting a flexible and inclusive work environment.
Ensure a scalable and effective onboarding process that delivers an outstanding experience for new hires in India.
Collaborate with Group HR to maintain onboarding programs that reflect our culture and values.
Ensure office, hybrid, and flexible working policies are fit-for-purpose and evolve with organizational growth.
Act as a champion of our culture and Core Values in Bangalore and across the organization.
Desired Experience and Approach
10–14 years of relevant HR experience.
Hands-on, pragmatic leader with the ability to deliver on projects and manage teams for results.
International experience managing teams in India and collaborating with global colleagues (preferably with a US or UK headquartered organization).
Strong expertise in compensation and benefits.
Deep knowledge of Indian employment law, statutory guidelines, compliance, and employee relations.
Curious, growth-oriented mindset with a track record of creative and practical problem-solving.
Proactive, integrity-driven, and passionate about leading people.
Proven ability to advise and influence senior management on HR best practices and decisions.
Commercial acumen and experience using metrics to drive performance.
Experience with integrations and acquisitions is an advantage.
