As a Senior Manager for Human Rights & Sustainability within the Procurement team, you will lead the identification, development, and implementation of projects to support Haleon’s sustainability ambitions. You will be responsible for supplier assessments, risk management, audit and compliance, and serving as a subject matter expert. The role also involves integrating human rights considerations into policies and contracts, building supplier capacity, collaborating across teams, and monitoring and reporting on initiatives.
Must have:
  • Experience with human rights issues such as modern slavery.
  • Knowledge of global legislative due diligence requirements.
  • Experience undertaking human rights due diligence.
Good to have:
  • Experience managing global supply chains is an advantage.
  • FMCG experience is preferable.

Role Overview

As a Senior Manager for Human Rights & Sustainability within the Procurement team, you will leverage your experience and knowledge to assess, support, and drive human rights initiatives. You will lead the identification, development, and implementation of high-value cross-functional projects to support Haleon’s sustainability ambitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Assessments and Risk Management:

    • Review supplier self-assessments, manage and modify supplier human rights risk logic.

    • Conduct human rights risk assessments and engage suppliers to ensure alignment with ethical sourcing standards and accurate reporting.

  • Audit and Compliance:

    • Address audit findings related to human rights non-compliance.

    • Develop corrective action plans and monitor supplier progress to ensure effective remediation.

  • Subject Matter Expertise:

    • Serve as the human rights subject matter expert (SME) for the procurement function.

    • Provide guidance, support, and training as required, including the Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) process.

  • Policy and Contract Integration:

    • Collaborate with legal and procurement teams to embed human rights considerations in procurement policies, contracts, and practices.

  • Supplier Capacity Building:

    • Lead initiatives to build supplier capacity and capability for complying with human rights standards and expectations.

    • Implement supplier engagement activities, such as training sessions, webinars, and workshops, to promote awareness and understanding of human rights in the supply chain.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with broader procurement/CMO teams, Legal, Sustainability (Human Rights Lead), and other internal stakeholders to ensure a cohesive approach to human rights across all procurement activities.

  • Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Track and measure the effectiveness of human rights initiatives in procurement.

    • Identify areas for continuous improvement and provide regular reports on compliance, risks, and progress to senior management for both internal and external reporting.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience with human rights issues, including modern slavery, forced labour, working conditions, and child labour/young workers.

  • Working knowledge of global legislative due diligence requirements on business and human rights (e.g., CSDDD, UK Modern Slavery Act, Swiss Ordinance on Due Diligence)

  • Experience undertaking human rights due diligence using relevant international norms, standards, and initiatives (such as UDHR, UN Global Compact, UNGPs, and OECD MNEs).

  • University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (Science or Technical).

  • 6-10 years of total experience, in Procurement or Sustainability functions.

  • Work experience in Human Rights for suppliers.

  • Experience managing global supply chains is an advantage.

  • Demonstrated experience in navigating organizational complexity, collaborating with multiple teams, influencing without authority, and handling escalations.

  • Good understanding of market drivers affecting the category; strong commitment to keeping abreast of trends.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – fluent English.

  • FMCG experience is preferable.
