Job Description

The Senior Measurement Partner, Japan, will design and conduct research, generating insights on Netflix Ads' effectiveness in the Japanese market. This includes working with sales, marketing, and data science teams to create regular reporting on audience reach and frequency, campaign verification, and measurement. The role involves managing effectiveness studies with third-party vendors, presenting insights to clients and agencies, and advising on media mix optimization. A key responsibility is partnering with the Japan Advertising Sales team to address measurement requests, offering expert advice on KPIs and strategies. The role also contributes to building category-specific learning agendas and playbooks, enhancing media plan effectiveness. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in media research and measurement, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication and presentation skills, proficiency in English and Japanese are crucial.

The core Netflix Ads team is charged with building a new, best-in-class ads organisation to establish Netflix as the go-to platform for advertiser partners. The Netflix Ads measurement team is tasked with building industry-leading research for advertisers to support our broader advertising sales efforts. This role is specifically for Japan. 

Netflix’s Ads APAC Measurement team is looking for a new Measurement Partner to join the team. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, consumer insights, data science, and our vendor partners. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Conduct research and generate insights that effectively convey the story of Netflix's Ads in APAC to the Japanese market and advertiser clients, with a focus on campaign effectiveness, reach and frequency, campaign verification, and measurement.

  • Use proprietary and syndicated tools to create regular reporting for stakeholders (both internal and external) on the JP Netflix Ads audience in comparison to competitors.

  • Integrate measurement outputs to craft a compelling narrative, present insights independently to clients and agencies, and offer guidance on optimising their media mix.

  • Manage the day-to-day effectiveness study process with third-party vendors from end to end such as sales requests, vendor intake, survey drafting, analysis, report creation, and presentation. Working closely with Sales Account Managers. 

  • Partner with the JP Advertising Sales team to address day-to-day measurement requests. Offer expert advice to sales and advertiser clients on KPIs and measurement strategies, enhancing media plan effectiveness on Netflix.

  • The team leads client learning agendas. Partnering with advertisers to create category-specific learning agendas & playbooks, bringing innovative approaches to the table

  • Support team projects, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and maintain high standards. Build and promote processes for efficient working methods across the team to bring complex measurement integrations to market.

  • Both internal and external stakeholder management (i.e. advertisers, clients, data analytic vendors, etc.)

  • Mine, collect, and retain information on trends in campaign effectiveness within Netflix and the media industries to develop and present case studies from ongoing and completed analyses.
     

Experience & Skills

  • 7+ Years experience in media research and measurement at Streaming, TV, digital media companies or media agencies.

  • Strong understanding of methodology, data, and systems from syndicated research providers (e.g. Nielsen, Intage, Macromill, Kantar, etc.) and direct digital technology and analytics. 

  • Experienced in effectiveness measurements such as Reach & Frequency, Incremental lift, Brand lift, Sales Lift, A/B testing, Marketing Mix Models, Search Lift and bespoke campaign effectiveness studies. Including questionnaire scripting. 

  • Strong understanding of methodology, data, and systems from syndicated research providers (e.g. GWI, etc.) as well as direct digital technology and analytics.

  • Demonstrated ability to generate strategic insights from rigorous analysis.

  • Strong knowledge of the advertising landscape, across all kinds of media channels and methods of buying. Ideally with a TV focus.

  • Demonstrated ability to generate strategic insights from rigorous analysis.

  • Self-starter and self-motivated with strong communication skills and expertise in managing larger-scale, complex projects.

  • Highly organised and experienced in building and following processes to make working methods more efficient. 

  • Flexible and open-minded: able to thrive in a startup environment with ambiguity

  • Builds strong relationships with clients and colleagues; values diverse perspectives for better decision-making.

  • Highly curious, always looking for the meaning behind data.

  • Excellent writing and presentation-building skills.

  • Proficient in both English and Japanese.

  • Proven expertise in advanced measurement methodologies. 

  • Comfort in analyzing large and disparate data sets to glean meaningful insights. 

  • Skills in advanced data analysis tools: Python, R, SQL, Excel
