Job Description

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, AI/ML, Google Cloud Compute, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. You will also provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. You will need to be able to influence and coach a distributed team of engineers, drive technical project strategy, and lead large-scale ML infrastructure optimization. You will oversee the design and implementation of solutions across multiple specialized ML areas.

Must have:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
8 years of experience in software development
5 years of experience with design and architecture
5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field
7 years of experience leading technical project strategy
Experience optimizing industry-scale ML infrastructure

Good to have:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and optimizing industry-scale ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
