Job Description

As a Software Engineer II, Backend, Meet Media at Google, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining the backend infrastructure for Google Meet. This will involve writing and reviewing code, debugging issues, and collaborating with other engineers to ensure the quality and performance of the product. You'll also be working on projects that support Meet's need for cloud-side audio and video processing. This is a great opportunity to work on a product that impacts millions of users around the world and to contribute to Google's mission of organizing the world's information and making it universally accessible and useful.

Must have:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms
Excellent problem solving skills

Experience working with web/mobile application development
Unix/Linux environments
Distributed and parallel systems
Machine learning
Information retrieval
Natural language processing
Networking
Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience working with web/mobile application development, Unix/Linux environments, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, networking, or similar.
Experience developing accessible technologies.
Excellent problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

Write product or system development code.
Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
Develop infrastructure that supports Meet's need for cloud-side audio and video processing.
