Must have:

  • Expert-level skills in Linux system administration

We are seeking a Senior AWS DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in AWS and Linux system administration to lead the design, automation, and optimization of our cloud infrastructure. In this role, you’ll drive the implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient systems while enabling DevOps practices across our engineering teams. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining a highly available infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and monitoring best practices.

Key Responsibilities

AWS Infrastructure Engineering
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS) using best practices for security, scalability, and availability.
  • Leverage Terraform and CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to create reproducible, version-controlled environments.
  • Automate system provisioning and configuration with tools like Ansible and scripting languages.
Linux System Administration
  • Manage and optimize Linux-based environments (Ubuntu, Amazon Linux, CentOS, etc.), ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
  • Perform routine system administration tasks such as package management, user and permission management, log analysis, and system tuning.
  • Troubleshoot OS-level issues related to performance, networking, and system services.
Automation & Scripting
  • Write and maintain automation scripts using Python, Shell (Bash), or PowerShell to automate deployments, monitoring, and routine operational tasks.
  • Continuously improve operational efficiency through scripting and automation.
CI/CD & DevOps Enablement
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Bamboo to support automated testing and deployments.
  • Champion DevOps culture and best practices across development and operations teams.
Monitoring, Logging & Observability
  • Implement and manage monitoring and logging solutions with CloudWatch, Grafana, and Prometheus to ensure proactive alerting and system health visibility.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application performance issues.
Security & Compliance
  • Enforce AWS security best practices, including IAM role management, encryption, network security, and compliance monitoring.
  • Regularly audit systems and implement controls to ensure data security and compliance.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Partner with software engineering, QA, and IT teams to design and support infrastructure aligned with application needs.
  • Document infrastructure, automation, and operational processes clearly and thoroughly.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps with a strong focus on AWS cloud environments.
  • Expert-level skills in Linux system administration, including command-line tools, shell scripting, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS.
  • Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Shell (Bash), or PowerShell.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS/ECS).
  • Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools like CloudWatch, Grafana, ELK, or Prometheus.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and experience implementing secure AWS environments.
  • Solid understanding of disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) architecture patterns.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
