Job Description

A UI Game Artist is needed to join a small, agile, remote team to create a new tile puzzle game. Responsibilities include designing and creating visually appealing UI components for core gameplay, including puzzle elements, boosters, blockers, and user interface elements for core gameplay, in-game events, and meta-game features. Collaboration with game designers and developers is crucial, along with maintaining visual consistency and asset optimization. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience as a Game Artist (preferably in casual, puzzle games), a strong portfolio showcasing skills in creating game assets, and proficiency in digital painting and illustration software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma).
Must have:
  • 3+ years Game Artist experience (casual/puzzle games)

  • Understanding of color theory, composition
  • Attention to detail, fast-paced work ability

We’re looking for a talented and passionate UI Game Artist to join our remote team and help bring our new tile puzzle game to life, currently in the prototyping phase. In this role, you’ll use your artistic expertise and creativity to craft a stunning visual experience, with a strong focus on clear, polished UI design and engaging game art for core gameplay, in-game events, and meta-game elements. 

What you’ll be doing

  • Be the sole UI artist of a small, agile team, and own all related work. 

  • Design and create visually appealing and user-friendly UI components for core gameplay including puzzle elements, boosters, blockers, and user interface components, for core gameplay, in-game events, and meta-game features.

  • Collaborate closely with game designers and developers to ensure seamless integration of visual elements.

  • Maintain consistency in visual style, ensuring assets are polished and aligned with the game’s overall aesthetic.

  • Optimize assets for performance without compromising visual quality.

  • Provide creative solutions to design challenges and iterate based on feedback from the team.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience as a Game Artist, with a focus on casual (preferably puzzle) games, with at least 1 shipped game and 3+ years of experience.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing your skills in creating game assets, specifically puzzle game elements, boosters, blockers, and UI components

  • Proficiency in digital painting and illustration software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma).

  • Solid understanding of color theory, composition, and visual communication.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to take direction and constructive feedback.

  • Passion for casual games and a keen eye for engaging visual design.

Bonus points for

  • 2D animation in Spine, or similar softwares.

  • Fully proficient working with Unity
