Boulder Media is on the lookout for a 2D Animation Team Lead. It is a full-time, specified-purpose role with hybrid working arrangements (i.e., remote and in-studio working). The successful candidate will be available to start in Summer 2025 and is required to be based in Ireland. The closing date for the applications is the 14th July 2025.

About the role
As a 2D Animation Team Lead, you will work closely with the Animation Director to establish a cohesive animation vision for the project's creative direction. You will guide the animation team with care and consideration, maintaining the required style and animation quality on the show. You will also manage the animation team and production of animation assets, providing direction and ensuring deadlines are being met from the animatic to the final animation.

Key Responsibilities
- Leading, mentoring, and managing a team of animators;
- Attending creative, production, and management meetings when required;
- Understanding the style and expectations of the show being produced;
- Participate in the initial breakdown and structuring of the project with the production team;
- Submitting only animation of the highest standard required from your team, including key and final animation;
- Communicating in a clear and timely manner with your team, departmental leads, and supervisors;
- Providing sketches, notes, and guidance to your team;
- Taking ownership and responsibility of your own work and your teams;
- Highlighting problems and providing solutions within your team and department;
- Managing team assignments, approvals, deadlines, and retake expectations;
- Keeping up to date with your drawing skills, continuously improving with tutorials, life drawing, sketching, and general animation research;
- As part of your continuous development, you are expected to keep up to date with the latest initiatives and developments in your area of expertise for the role, such as (but not limited to) training, learning and development initiatives, and mentoring;

- Assigning an episode;
- Managing an episode;
- Managing Staff;
- Any other duties company management may from time to time deem necessary and reasonably require.
What would we look for?
- Proven experience within the Animation industry with at least a few years of Animation experience;
- Good knowledge of Toon Boom Harmony;
- Excellent knowledge of the reuse library and employ it wherever possible to achieve the highest level of efficiency for your team;
- Positive and professional attitude with great aptitude for drawing, animation, and observation;
- Excellent organisational and time management skills;
- Strong and clear communicator fluent in English, both spoken and written;
- Ability to lead and manage a team;
- Flexible, willing to learn, and self-motivated with good interpersonal skills;
- Able to work within a production schedule.
