Job Description

The Content Programming Manager at Google TV is responsible for overseeing content programming and creating engaging experiences for Google TV users. This involves managing campaigns across key verticals and moments, both domestically and internationally. The role requires a deep understanding of the Google TV audience and developing programs to help them discover new content. Responsibilities include ideating editorial content, creating collections, writing copy, developing artwork, and determining campaign placement. Collaboration with cross-functional teams (Product, UX, Go-to-Market, Analytics, Business Development) is crucial for success. The manager will track and analyze campaign performance, develop user insights, and identify opportunities to improve the content discovery experience. Experience in live content, SVOD, AVOD, and FAST programming is essential.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in marketing working across one or more marketing fields (i.e., growth, product marketing, brand marketing, social).
  • 4 years of experience working in content programming, content strategy, editorial, merchandising, growth marketing, e-commerce, digital production or partnerships in Media and Entertainment.
  • Experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in one or more of the following fields: growth, product, brand, social, or partner marketing or research.
  • Experience in consulting and working with behavioural marketing data.
  • Experience with marketing and sales operations, financial analytics, or other related analytical experience.
  • Experience with FAST programming.

Whether you're on a consumer product (like Gmail, Search, Maps, Chrome, Android) or a business product (Google Ads, AdSense, Google Marketing Platform, Analytics), you take part in a complete marketing experience as you lead every facet of the product's journey. From determining positioning, naming, competitive analysis, feature prioritization and external communications, you help shape the product and help it grow a consumer base. This means you work with a cross-functional team across Sales, corporate communications, legal, webmasters, product development, engineering and more. In this role, you'll be involved with product marketing strategy from beginning to end.

Google TV is a smart TV platform designed to help you easily browse, discover and watch movies and TV. It brings together content from across your apps and subscriptions and organizes them just for you. The mission of the Content Programming team is to create engaging experiences that help users discover new content. Specifically we are the human curation team responsible for choosing movies and TV shows to feature each week, complementing algorithmic recommendations to deliver an excellent content discovery experience.

As Content Programming Manager, you will execute the team’s content strategy, including managing campaigns for key verticals/moments in the US and globally.

Google TV is redefining the TV experience to make it highly personalized, Google-smart, and content-forward to help users access the world’s media. Through recent launches like Chromecast with Google TV, we bring together the best of Google. Google TV is focused on scaling across the OEM ecosystem; working closely with third-party streaming partners plus many teams across Google (for example: Ads, Play, and YouTube); and building a business on TV platforms, OTT devices, and mobile devices. With millions of active users of our products plus being amidst the quickly evolving media and entertainment industry, there are plenty of opportunities for the team and individuals in it.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $137,000-$201,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Oversee Google TV content programming and create content to show to the Google TV audience at the right moment, live content, SVOD, AVOD content, and FAST content.
  • Understand the Google TV audience and develop programs that help them discover new content in engaging ways.
  • Come up with new editorial ideas and create content collections, write copy, develop artwork and decide placement for campaigns. Collaborate with Product, UX, Go to Market, Analytics and Business Development teams to drive success for users, content providers and Google TV.
  • Track and analyze performance to measure the effectiveness of campaigns; develop user insights, including understanding of customer lifecycles and segments as well as genre and partner trends. Come up with ideas on how to improve the discovery experience on Google TV.
