Role Overview:

We are seeking a Director of Subscriptions who can strategically expand and optimize our subscription offerings, drive growth, and improve customer retention. This role requires a leader with deep expertise in subscriptions, partnerships and the ability to develop innovative strategies to increase subscriber growth and engagement.

This role blends high-level strategy with hands-on execution, focusing on content, revenue expansion and subscriber engagement. Working cross-functionally with product, marketing, and editorial teams, you’ll help shape the future of gaming and entertainment subscriptions across some of the most recognised brands in the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a growth strategy for our subscriptions, ensuring that they have a strong value proposition to drive acquisition, retention, and revenue growth.
  • Own the subscriber lifecycle, optimizing conversion, onboarding, engagement, and churn mitigation.
  • Leverage audience insights and data to optimize subscriber content offerings, pricing models and promotional campaigns.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with product, marketing, content, and analytics teams to align subscription initiatives with broader company objectives.
  • Analyze market trends and competitive dynamics to refine our subscription models and differentiate our offerings.
  • Find opportunities for cross promotion across all IGN Entertainment brands and third-party partners.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team focused on subscription growth and customer retention.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in subscription-based businesses, e-commerce, or SaaS.
  • Proven track record in growing and optimizing subscription revenue.
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in subscription metrics and financial modeling.
  • Experience with CRM, subscription management, and analytics tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Work Environment:

  • Work Schedule: Standard full-time working schedule, M-F. Due to the nature of this role, there may be an expectation to work late evenings and early mornings to meet various deliverables and requests.
  • Travel Requirements: From time to time, this role may need to travel to events and other office locations, as needed. International travel as needed. 
  • Physical Requirements: This role involves typical office and computer-based activities, including prolonged periods of sitting or standing and frequent use of hands, fingers, and vision for tasks such as operating a computer, mouse, and keyboard. Occasional travel is required, which could include lifting and carrying materials, and navigating airports, hotels, and other venues.   • Work Model: This position is a hybrid role in Los Angeles, CA. This role will be required to work out of our Los Angeles office at least 3 days per week.

Salary Disclosure: Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The base pay for this position ranges from $170,000 to $180,000, plus incentive compensation (for eligible roles only), 401K with company match, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long-term disability, and a flexible time off policy.
