Math Teacher

We are looking for a part-time Math Teacher who will help us with our charity project: Teachstream.This project is currently running in three of Bucharest’s Child Daycare Services centres: “Pinocchio” Center, „Sf. Pantelimon” Center “, “Casa din Tei” Center, “Casa Sperantei” Center and “Eu si prietenii mei” Center. Its mission is to teach the children of these centres in three domains: Computer Science, Math and English.
The Teachstream vision is to break these children from their social heritage by providing them access to things that wouldn’t otherwise be available to them in regular circumstances: computers, tablets, smartphones and knowledge. We want these kids to be able to access higher grades of education and become an inspiration for their community.

Requirements:

• Possesses a Computer Science or Math High School diploma or is currently an undergraduate student in the Department of Computer Science, Mathematics or Economics;
• Has followed a Psycho-pedagogy module or has previous teaching experience in educational projects that involved working with children (minimum 1 year);
• Excellent communication skills;
• Very good organizing and prioritizing skills;
• Intuition and proactivity;
• Problem-solving attitude;
• Easily adaptable;
• Train the trainer certification is a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Assist Children from challenging backgrounds in acquiring foundational math skills and understanding, up to 8th grade level knowledge, ensuring they progress alongside their peers;
• Support the developments of children's mathematical abilities to help them achieve good academic results and secure better future;
• Create and maintain a safe, inclusive and encouraging environment where children feel comfortable to explore new concepts and learn from mistakes;
• Assess the educational needs of their children and develop engaging and stimulating learning experiences tailored to their individual needs;
• Clearly communicate expectations, offer guidance and actively monitor the progress of each child;
• Utilize both formal and informal assessment strategies to track and support children's learning progress;
• Encourage the use of additional instructional/media resources to reinforce learning;
• Foster self-reliance, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, creativity and performance in students;
• Maintain a positive learning environment that promotes collaboration and positive relationships among children;
• Evaluate children's achievements, prepare progress reports and provide feedback to the Teachstream team.
