Job Description

The Payroll Manager will manage all aspects of domestic and international payrolls, including timely data input and review, policy development, and best practices. They will act as a point of contact for payroll communication and tax, support financial and tax accounting, partner with HR for system management, assist in accounting close processes, support audit and SOX compliance, generate wire transfer documents, and monitor compensation for compliance. The role involves coordinating global payroll accounting, managing expatriate populations, and performing special projects as assigned. This position requires a strong understanding of payroll processes, accounting, and regulations.
Must have:
  • 6+ years of prior payroll management experience
  • Knowledge of international payroll and payroll tax processes
  • Extensive knowledge of Workday payroll
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts
Good to have:
  • CPP or CPA certification preferred

Some of What You'll Do

Manage all aspects of domestic, Central America / Latin America (CALA), and other international payrolls:

  • Perform end-to-end processing and management of designated payrolls in CALA and USA, including timely input and review of payroll & time entry data.
  • Develop policies and procedures; establish best practices.
  • Act as an additional point of contact for global payroll communication, research and tax, including supporting employees with US and international payroll issues.
  • Support the financial and tax accounting aspects of all payroll processes.
  • Partner with Human Resources (HR) in managing products and services provided by Workday and Safeguard, the global payroll provider.  This includes implementing payroll system upgrades, enhancements, and new products/programs.
  • Assist in the accounting close processes.
  • Support audit (internal and external) and SOX compliance processes.
  • Generate appropriate wire transfer documents and monitor that bank transactions are generated in timely manner.
  • Monitor in-country compensation and absence management for statutory and company compliance requirements for applicable payrolls.
  • Partner with regional payroll personnel and subject matter experts to centrally coordinate global payroll accounting.
  • Support the management of the expatriate population, working on scenario analysis, including but not limited to, shadow payrolls, hypothetical tax withholding and year-end tax equalization in both home and host countries.

Performs special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting degree preferred)
  • 6+ years of prior payroll management experience
  • Knowledge of international payroll and payroll tax processes
  • Extensive knowledge of Workday payroll with advanced reporting skills
  • CPP or CPA certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and proven experience with general ledger posting/interface/reconciliation
  • Familiarity with Wage and Hour Law and payroll related IRS regulations
  • Highly productive with minimal guidance or supervision with the ability to work and communicate with all levels of management
  • Must have advanced PC skills (Excel, Word, Outlook), plus strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively on a variety of simultaneous assignments within a team environment
  • Ability to perform with specific deadlines, attending to details
