Summary

As a Principal Software Engineer on the Platform Engineering team, you'll lead efforts across multiple teams to pioneer new technologies and solve challenging problems. You will drive the creation, delivery, and strategic direction of core platforms powering hundreds of high-load services. Responsibilities include developing high-level product specifications, overseeing development team progress, ensuring software quality and security, defining and prioritizing backlogs for Platform teams, communicating business value of solutions, and championing DevOps culture (Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, automated testing).
Must have:
  • Prior technical leadership experience

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Expertise in C#, Go, TS, or JS
  • Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD experience
  • Cloud (AWS/GCP) experience
Good to have:
  • DevOps, SRE, or Technical Product Owner experience
  • GitOps (Flux), Terraform, Kong, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Vault, Grafana, DataDog, ELK, Jenkins, AI (LLMs) experience

As a Principal Software Engineer on our Platform Engineering team, you will be at the heart of innovation, leading efforts across multiple teams to pioneer new technologies and tackle challenging technical problems with significant impact and positive long-term outcomes. In this role, you will drive the creation, delivery, and strategic direction of our core platforms, which power hundreds of high-load services.

What you’ll do as a Principal Software Engineer

  • Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.

  • Oversee the progress of development teams to ensure consistency with the initial design.

  • Ensure software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility, etc.

  • Define and prioritize the backlog for several Platform teams (consisting of Software and DevOps Engineers).

  • Effectively communicate the business value of our solutions, such as improved developer efficiency, reduced time to market, or lower costs.

  • Champion our DevOps culture, leading the adoption of Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD tools, infrastructure as code, and automated testing into the development lifecycle.

What you’ll bring

  • Prior technical leadership experience in any of the following roles: Architect, Tech Lead, or Team Lead.

  • An ability to set and drive the big-picture strategy while also offering detailed technical guidance to the team.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, including translating ambiguous inputs from multiple stakeholders into actionable plans, delivering presentations, and explaining and documenting complex technical decisions in an easy-to-understand way.

  • Expertise in one or more programming languages (C#, Go, TS, JS).

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD platforms.

  • Experience with cloud-based or hybrid architectures - we use AWS and GCP.

  • Prior experience as a DevOps, SRE, or Technical Product Owner is a plus.

  • Proficiency in any of the following technologies is a plus: GitOps (Flux), Terraform, Kong, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Vault, Grafana, DataDog, ELK, Jenkins, AI (LLMs).
