Job Description

As a Program Manager II, Responsible AI, Cloud AI Systems at Google, you'll lead efforts in establishing standardized safety processes for enterprise AI products and conduct model safety evaluations. This involves incorporating Google's Responsible AI best practices and regulatory requirements into Cloud programming, supporting internal and external customers. You'll develop safety product roadmaps, balancing innovation with sustainability. Responsibilities include working with engineering, product, and solutions teams; determining safety standards; leading safety testing for Cloud AI products; conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis; and providing Responsible AI launch assessments. The role requires strong project management skills and experience with AI, particularly in the context of responsible AI development and deployment.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years program/project management experience
  • Experience with Trust & Safety or Public Policy teams
  • Leading AI programs
  • Work with engineering, product, and solutions teams
  • Determine safety standards for enterprise products
  • Lead structured safety testing for Cloud AI products
  • Conduct quantitative/qualitative analysis of results

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Experience working with or working on Trust and Safety or Public Policy teams.
  • Experience leading Artificial Intelligence programs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with risk management at the project and organization levels.
  • Experience with the domain area of Generative AI or Large Language Models.
  • Experience developing AI related products.
  • Experience in Responsible AI.

As a Program Manager on the Cloud Responsible AI team, you will be focused on establishing standardized safety processes for enterprise AI products and conduct model safety evaluations. You will incorporate Google Responsible AI best practices and regulatory requirements into Cloud programming, and will support both internal Cloud product teams as well as external customers from all industries. You will leverage internal practices to drive the development of safety product roadmaps, balancing the need for innovation and progress with long-term sustainability.

The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, Machine Learning (ML), and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering, product, and solutions teams to prioritize and deliver Responsible AI solutions.
  • Determine safety standards for specific enterprise products, translating safety standards into clear guidelines for compliance reviews.
  • Own and lead structured safety testing for Cloud’s AI products, including consultations for how to develop a scaled testing solution, getting access to the model/UI and performing tests, or defining and providing clear instructions to vendor teams.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of results, including unexpected edge cases, providing clear insights to inform decision-making around pre- and post-launch mitigation steps.
  • Provide Responsible AI launch assessments to guide product decision makers on potential harms to users.
