Lead a QA team testing AAA console and PC games using Unreal Engine. Mentor and grow the QA team, manage quality risks, create test plans and specs, utilize bug databases and test case management software. Collaborate with external QA partners, report quality metrics, maintain a strong quality culture, and ensure the functionality and integrity of game releases. The role involves managing QA activities, implementing testing standards, and working directly with development teams.

Job Details

THE ROLE:
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Lead Tester to join our team in Fort Worth, TX. You will be responsible for leading a team of QA Testers performing functional testing games from across the Studios in ProbablyMonsters.

  • You have worked on PC and Console game projects as a tester and now have experience leading a group of testers.
  • You are passionate about QA as a discipline and career path.
  • You have excellent attention to detail.
  • You are relentless about tracking down and documenting bugs.
  • You are a fierce player advocate.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Manage a QA team, working on a project using Unreal Engine.
  • Mentor and grow the QA team and craft, which may include hiring as needed.
  • Manage quality risks and provide mitigation plans.
  • Creation of Test Plans, Test Specs and Test Suites.
  • Utilize test tools such as bug databases and test case management software.
  • Provide insight and guidance on creating, maintaining, and improving QA staff, tools and processes.
  • Interface directly with external QA partners.
  • Track and report quality metrics to provide accurate status of staff and project quality.
  • Maintain a strong culture of quality and mutual respect with partner development teams.
  • Use discretion when working with confidential, proprietary information between groups.
  • Manage QA activities to test the functionality and integrity of pre-released and released versions of software.
  • Implement testing policies, procedures, and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong experience testing AAA console and PC games.
  • Ability to gather and communicate facts in a clear and professional manner.
  • Effectively communicate through good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading the Test effort for at least one AAA game.
  • Experience in executing test cases and suites using test case management systems.
  • Experience managing game testing released on multiple platforms.
  • Experience leading QA teams.
  • Experience working directly with game development teams.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working on PC and Console games as a QA Tester and at least 1 year experience as a Lead Tester.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Experience working with the Unreal Engine.
  • Experience in executing test cases and suites using test case management systems.
  • General understanding of test automation would be an asset.

Compensation:

  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-exempt position.
  • The hourly rate for this position is between $26-31/hour. When an offer is made, many factors are considered, such as your unique experience and skills, where you live, where the work will be performed, what similar jobs pay, internal equity, and what you're looking for.
  • In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for additional incentives, such as short- and long-term incentives. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
