This role focuses on our Ally product, Anthology’s revolutionary product that makes digital course content more accessible. As the accessibility of digital course content is becoming increasingly important world-wide, institutions must address long-standing and often overbearing challenges. Anthology’s Ally engineering team is responsible for developing industry-leading tools to improve accessibility through inclusivity, sustainability, and automation for all students. 

 

As a member of our Product Development organization, you’ll work in an agile environment delivering industry-leading SaaS products and web service platforms. Software engineers work in a team environment, collaborating on the design, implementation, and support of Anthology’s products.

 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Verifying and testing new features, analyzing, and investigating root cause of customers issues
  • Analyzing results of test automation builds (smoke and regression tests)
  • Writing and maintaining automation tests written in TypeScript
  • Being part of the development teams to understand the business requirements and preparing automation scripts for testing 
  • Cooperating very closely with software and site reliability engineers and helping build, maintain, and monitor test environments
  • Working in a scrum team responsible for developing and testing features and fixes for Anthology Ally
  • Collaborating with teammates and others to design solutions to complex problems
  • Participating in agile planning and execution
  • Contributing to the ongoing support and improvement of Ally
  • Working with a variety of software development technologies, tools, and techniques (e.g. NodeJS (TypeScript), Docker, AWS etc.)
  • Developing a deep expertise in certain areas of the product
  • Developing new features and maintaining test automation framework
  • Maintaining CI/CD for test automation

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience
  • Interest in quality assurance and test automation
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS
  • Good abstract and critical thinking
  • Knowledge of some programming language (ideally JavaScript, TypeScript)
  • Experience with REST API testing
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

 

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Experience with executing manual test cases and exploratory testing
  • Experience with test automation
  • Command line scripting knowledge in Linux-like environment
  • Knowledge of cloud computing (e.g. AWS or Azure)
  • Experience with IntelliJ IDEA (or other IDE)
  • Experience with a version control system (Git)
  • Experience with a bug tracking system (JIRA)
  • Experience with a continuous integration system and continuous delivery practices
