The Retail Innovation and Design Manager at Disney Consumer Products will play a crucial role in developing and executing BlueSky retail opportunities. This role requires a diverse design skillset encompassing graphics, 3D modeling, product, environmental design, and themed entertainment. Responsibilities include bringing data to life through creative outputs, designing a trend database, collaborating on the innovation pipeline, articulating concepts through various mediums, driving business growth by analyzing trends, and tracking Disney-specific behaviors to unlock opportunities. The role involves close collaboration with multiple teams and requires strong presentation and communication skills.
Must have:

Good to have:
  • Disney Parks/DSE consumer and landscape experience

This individual will play a critical role in bringing to life BlueSky retail opportunities based on the consumer landscape.  This individual is a multi-talented designer, and expert at creating clearly articulated creative outputs (graphics, videos, presentations, reports, 3-D models, renderings, etc.) designed for functional, organization-wide engagement. This role will partner closely with multiple teams, manage data and insights, and craft compelling creative offerings and recommendations based on research. In addition, this role will closely collaborate with the team in Innovation Pipeline ideation, development and execution. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Retail Innovation & Design.

What You Will Do:

  • Bring data to life through dynamic, clearly articulated creative outputs (graphics, videos, presentations, reports, 3-D models, renderings, etc.) designed for functional, organization-wide engagement

  • Support the design of a compelling organization-wide trend database that houses team-generated comprehensive reports, synthesized insights, and inspiration built specifically for cross-category teams in Parks/DSE organization

  • Collaborate on the development and execution of the Innovation pipeline to inspire a new generation of consumer-centered products and experiences

  • Articulate/design concepts, initiatives, and BlueSky concepts through mood boards, pitch decks, strategic roadmaps, etc.

  • Drive business relevance and growth by articulating disruptive consumer culture, lifestyle, and industry trends (both external and internal Disney) and retail-specific landscape trends (macro-level, product-level, and Disney-owned) into compelling design opportunities for retail across Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and Disney Signature Experiences (DSE)

  • Track and foster strategic signal spotting of Disney-specific behaviors, attitudes, and aesthetics that unlock fresh, own-able trends and opportunity spaces for parks/DSE retail

  • Maintain a constant pulse on cultural dynamics, trends, and opportunities

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 3-5 years proven retail product design experience

  • Portfolio Required

  • Diverse design skillset with competencies across graphics, 3-D design, product, environmental design, and themed entertainment design

  • Proven analytical and innovation BlueSky capabilities

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of Disney Parks/DSE consumer and landscape

  • Experience presenting and collaborating with teams and leaders across The Walt Disney Company

  • Preferred systems knowledge: Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), 3-D Modeling Software, Rhino, Solidworks, SketchUp, Keynote, Powerpoint

Preferred Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design
