Security Engineer - Surface Coverage, Detection Engineering

Meta Security is seeking a skilled Security Engineer with a proven track record in threat modeling, TTP identification, and detection engineering. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Software Engineers and Offensive Security Engineers to identify critical assets, assess top risks, and evaluate potential attacks against Meta systems. Your expertise will be crucial in developing detection and response automation, leveraging both industry-standard and custom platforms. You will play a key role in generating detection ideas using some of the world's largest data sets, building upon hyper-scale data pipelines. This position requires a deep understanding of security architectures, threat modeling, and incident response, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include: * Leading cross-functional projects to enhance detection and response capabilities. * Reviewing the security architecture of large-scale custom and commercial systems, independently proposing logging, detection, and prevention controls. * Performing TTP-based Threat Modeling for a wide range of assets, encompassing endpoints, mobile devices, servers, internal services, public & private cloud environments, and networking equipment. * Analyzing logs from various sources (e.g., individual host logs, network traffic logs) to identify potential threats and generate detection ideas. * Constructing response workflows and actions that automatically resolve false positives, providing context and scalability for investigations. * Supporting security incident response in a cross-functional environment, driving incident resolution. * Designing and implementing attack testing automation to validate detection coverage. * Building logging pipelines utilizing custom datasets and infrastructure.
