Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Build and maintain high-quality internal-facing surfaces for Canva’s wide variety of AI capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform complex AI-powered interactions into simple, user-friendly interfaces.
• Optimize performance and scalability to ensure delightful user experiences.
• Drive best practices in frontend development while exploring new tools and technologies.
• Troubleshoot issues and contribute to improving Canva’s platform as part of the on-call rotation.
• Mentor teammates and support their professional growth in a collaborative environment.

You're probably a match if

• You have 5+ years of frontend development experience, particularly in large-scale web applications.
• You’re skilled in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and modern web technologies.
• You have a strong understanding of UX/UI principles and care deeply about building accessible and responsive designs.
• You like moving fast and working as part of a team with a wide range of skillsets (backend, frontend, product, design, and ML).
• You enjoy collaborating with and empowering other (internal) teams.
• Bonus points if you have experience working with AI/ML-powered products.

The AI Platform team is on a mission to empower Canvanauts to build transformational AI solutions quickly, safely, and at scale. Within this group, Generative AI is shaping Canva’s future as a creative partner to millions, blending cutting-edge AI with intuitive design experiences. Joining this team means working on some of Canva’s most innovative projects and helping users create amazing designs effortlessly.
