Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg seeks a Senior Matching Technician to ensure dimensional quality of vehicles. Responsibilities include assembling parts and simulators, preparing vehicles for measurements, disassembling defective components, developing and validating manufacturing jigs and fixtures using 3D printing and other techniques, conducting dimensional analysis, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams. The role involves both workshop-based tasks and occasional production line involvement, requiring shift work as needed. This multifaceted position demands strong problem-solving and communication skills, along with hands-on experience in metalworking, additive manufacturing, and manual measurement tools.

We are looking for a Senior Matching Technician to join our dynamic and versatile team, which includes engineers, metrology technicians, and other matching technicians. This team plays a vital role in ensuring the dimensional quality of our vehicles at Gigafactory Berlin. This multifaceted role involves supporting dimensional analysis from vehicle level to individual components. You will prepare vehicles, bodies, and assemblies for measurements and trials, disassemble defective components for root cause analysis, and assemble production parts and nominal simulators on the cube (a nominal vehicle representation). You will also play a critical role in developing, testing, and validating manufacturing jigs and fixtures, often in experimental settings and under tight deadlines. Collaboration across departments is essential, as you’ll work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to meet technical requirements. The role is primarily workshop-based, with occasional production line involvement, and includes shift work depending on workload.

What You’ll Do
  • Assembly & Preparation:
    -Assemble production parts and nominal simulators on the cube.
    -Prepare vehicles, bodies, or assemblies for measurement and trials.
    -Disassemble defective components for root cause analysis.
  • Fixture Development:
    -Build, improve, and validate manufacturing jigs and fixtures to enhance production processes.
    -Utilize 3D printing, assembly, and testing techniques to develop prototypes and optimize fixtures.
  • Dimensional Quality Analysis:
    -Evaluate gap and flush interfaces on cubes, bodies, and production vehicles for specific analysis requests.
    -Collaborate across departments to understand and meet technical requirements for investigations.
  • Process Improvement:
    -Identify and propose improvements to work processes and quality standards.
    -Document trials, measurements, and findings clearly and unambiguously.
  • Safety & Organization:
    -Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
    -Adhere to safe working practices and communicate setbacks promptly to meet project deadlines.
What You’ll Bring
  • 3-5 years of experience as a technician or in a similar role.
  • Completed professional apprenticeship in a relevant field; technician or master craftsman qualifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving methods is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    -Metalworking (drilling, milling, grinding, manual welding).
    -Additive manufacturing (3D printing).
    -Manual measurement tools (gap and flush gauges).
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially for cross-department collaboration.
  • Structured work habits and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Fluency in English or German is required.
  • Work Environment: Primarily workshop-based, with some tasks on the production line.
  • Shift work may be required depending on workload.
