About the job:
As a Software Engineer, Infrastructure, Search, you will join a team that owns the underlying infrastructure that ensures Search developers have the tools they need to build next-generation AI-driven experiences. You will contribute to the design and development of full-stack solutions, utilizing your skills in Java, C++, UI rendering, server-side optimizations, and infrastructure performance. You will also be responsible for writing product or system development code, reviewing code developed by other developers, participating in design reviews, contributing to documentation, and triaging product or system issues.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java)
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields
  • Experience with server and client performance optimizations and infrastructure supporting high-traffic, complex applications
  • Proficiency in C++
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and related frontend technologies
  • Basic knowledge of browser rendering lifecycles, performance tuning, and infrastructure optimization
  • Familiarity with Chrome DevTools and related web technologies for UI rendering

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to interact with local stakeholders in this customer-facing role.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code and review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Contributing to the design and development of full-stack solutions, utilizing your skills in Java, C++, UI rendering, server-side optimizations, and infrastructure performance.
