Job Description

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you'll lead complex, multi-disciplinary chip design projects. You'll collaborate with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage schedules, and communicate effectively. You'll work with engineers of various specialties, product managers, and internal/external partners to define, design, build, test, and ship products. Responsibilities include identifying program/technical risks, developing mitigation plans, and ensuring product excellence and timeliness. This role requires close collaboration with engineering teams, managing project status communication, working with partners on schedules and budgets, and facilitating conflict resolution. Travel and Google Video Conferences (GVC) are required for coordination with teams in Mountain View and Asia Pacific.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years program management experience
  • 5+ years experience with chips & embedded systems for mobile devices
  • Manage custom silicon projects
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies
Good to have:
  • 8+ years managing cross-functional projects
  • Experience in Consumer Electronics with external partnerships

Job Details

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience with chips and embedded systems used in Mobile devices.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with product development, program management, project management, professional services or engineering management.
  • Experience working in the Consumer Electronics industry involving executing technical programs with external partnerships.

You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will help keep the engineering team productive. You will work with engineers of many specialties, product managers, and internal and external partners around the world to define, design, build, test and ship products.

You will be responsible for helping identify program and technical risks and helping come up with mitigation plans, working in collaboration with product managers and engineers to make good product level judgements to ensure both product excellence and timeliness.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work jointly with engineering teams to develop and manage custom silicon projects.
  • Help engineering teams communicate project status to internal stakeholders across Google.
  • Work with partners on product development schedules, dependencies and budgets.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Interface between partners and product engineering teams, setting and managing schedules and milestones. Travel and Google Video Conferences (GVC) required to coordinate with teams in Mountain View (MTV) and Asia Pacific (APAC).
