This Technical Program Manager role at Google focuses on the delivery of ultra long-haul, subsea, and metro fiber optic infrastructure systems in the EMEA region. Responsibilities include managing the delivery of network projects, from inception to completion, encompassing various components like metro/long-haul systems, fiber, leased wavelengths, and more. The role requires leading cross-functional teams, engaging with external vendors, and assisting in developing infrastructure requirements. Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent experience
- 1+ years in program or technical project management
- Network infrastructure experience (optical transport/networking)
- Risk, program, stakeholder, and escalation management experience
- Manage optical transport infrastructure delivery for EMEA
Good to have:
- Project management in terrestrial/subsea optical network infrastructure
- Manage project priorities and technical resources
- Cross-functional process improvement experience
- Excellent communication and data-driven problem-solving skills

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
- 1 year of experience in program or technical project management.
- Experience with network infrastructure operations or builds (e.g., optical transport/networking, dark fibre, Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks and deployment planning).
- Experience with Risk Management, Program Management, Stakeholder Management and Escalation Management.
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of project management in the deployment of terrestrial or subsea optical network infrastructure engineering design and construction projects.
- Ability to manage project priorities and technical resources and have relationships with multiple partner-teams, directors or vendors.
- Ability to identify opportunities and drive cross-functional process improvements across the organization.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to solve issues with data motivated investigative approach.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.In this role, you will work cross functionally within the organization to ensure the delivery of ultra long-haul, subsea and metro fiber optic infrastructure systems to support the core IP traffic demands which globally interconnect data center, and peering facilities to serve Google users. You will manage multiple projects with a degree of scope. You will work with Technical and Program/Product/Project Leadership to plan project priorities and resolve scheduling issues. You will have the ability to demonstrate creativity, and initiative that permits your work to be accepted and trusted by executive management and cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage optical transport infrastructure and capacity delivery for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
- Manage the delivery of network projects composed of metro/long-haul systems and fiber, leased wavelengths, circuit adds/moves/changes/disconnects, power, cross-connects, inside plant fiber, and more from inception through delivery.
- Lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple network projects with engaging priorities, ensuring stakeholders are informed of project status.
- Engage with external vendors for network build services and facilitate review and acceptance of vendor handover documentation.
- Assist upstream planning, design, and acquisition teams in developing infrastructure requirements, priorities, and delivery date expectations.
