  • Lead as a design expert, translating that knowledge into creative, engaging, and viral content. Key areas of focus include cultural design news and features, design trends, exclusive home tours, celebrity real-estate coverage, and more.

  • Assign and top-edit daily digital output. Represent AD internally and externally as needed.

Management and operations

  • Direct staff on the output of their sections, providing effective feedback, coaching, and direction.

  • Encourage talent growth and foster a transparent, respectful, inclusive, and collaborative team environment.

  • Maintain clear processes and communication channels, and serve as a resource for team members to help resolve challenges, improve outputs, and ensure work is happening in sync.

  • Effectively manage all HR/People processes for direct reports, including performance management, compensation reviews, recruitment, and more.

  • Manage ongoing editorial expenses and budgets.

Audience

  • Work with audience development and editorial teams to refine and implement SEO, newsletter, and social media growth strategies for consumer and trade audiences, including engagement, audience-building tactics, and special initiatives.

  • A clear understanding of editorial strategy, from story idea to promotional plan, and how to use analytics and audience insights to refine tactics.

  • Excellent judgment, with a keen eye for developing storytelling that will differentiate AD.

  • Strong copywriting and line-editing skills.

  • Experience working with commercial partners to conceive and execute high-quality editorial packages that meet business needs toward sponsorship and membership goals.

  • Expert at staying organized to juggle multiple projects against tight deadlines, all while continuously advocating for creativity across the editorial team.
