Job Description

The Assembly Technician will be responsible for assembling and disassembling assembly parts and using tools and equipment in an industrial setting. The role involves working on the 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM), assisting with 5s and cleaning procedures, and contributing to solutions for quality and production issues. The technician will assemble, test, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble equipment, maintaining assembly and test equipment, and adhering to safety protocols. The position also requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The employee regularly works in an indoor manufacturing environment.
Must have:
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • 1+ years of assembly experience in manufacturing.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment for assembly.
Good to have:
  • 3+ years of auto mechanic/aviation mechanic experience.
  • Good listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others as a team player.

This position is located in the Duncan, Spartanburg area. We have been in operation for over 50 years and offer fantastic benefits and a stable work environment. You will be responsible for assembling and disassembling assembly parts and for using tools and equipment needed to perform operations in an industrial setting. You will make a difference by being a team player and having great listening and communication skills.

What do we offer?

  • Must be able to work on 2nd shift, hours are 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM.
  • Our job titles may span more than one career level. The hourly range for this role is between $18.50+ an hour.

The actual hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, is available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include an annual bonus, if eligible.

What do we want to know about you?

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • 1+ years of assembly experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • 3+ years of auto mechanic/aviation mechanic experience preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to use tools and equipment that are needed to perform the assembly operations in an industrial setting.
  • Must have good listening and communication skills.
  • Able to work well with others to be a good team player.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Assist in daily 5s and cleaning procedures.
  • Assists others in obtaining solutions to quality and production issues.
  • Other duties as may be required or assigned.
  • Assemble, test, and inspect according to engineering drawings and test codes
  • Work with electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Disassemble, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble equipment that does not pass the test.
  • Maintain assembly and test equipment as required        
  • Move material to and from the workstation by hand, cart, and crane as required
  • Adhere to all safety rules and procedures and maintain good housekeeping

While performing this job's duties, for the work shift, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an indoor manufacturing environment.  The employee will work in areas exposed to production activities including but not limited to production machinery, assembly operations, overhead crane usage, and forklift traffic.  The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to workplace hazards.

Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this class, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information, and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills, and interact with other employees, customers, and vendors.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
