Job Description

Join our newly formed tech team in Leeds as a Senior Backend Engineer. You will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the development and maintenance of our robust and scalable technology stack. Working with the latest technologies, you will help build and enhance our cloud-based platforms, ensuring they are distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant to meet the specific demands of the UK betting market and our rapidly growing user base. You will be responsible for developing, designing, and refactoring microservices, conducting code reviews, providing mentorship to team members, integrating new products, building internal services, and taking ownership of problem-solving, collaborating with other teams when necessary.
Must have:
  • Experience with Java frameworks like Spring and JPA
  • Experience with Kotlin
  • Ability to build services from scratch
  • Working with relational databases like MySQL
  • Building scalable and fault-tolerant systems
  • Familiarity with microservice architectures
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with Akka, Hazelcast, Elasticsearch, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Consul, Google Cloud Platform, and BigQuery

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our newly formed tech team in Leeds as a Senior Backend Engineer.

In this role you will be an integral part of our team, contributing to the development and maintenance of our robust and scalable technology stack.

Working with the latest technologies, you will help build and enhance our cloud-based platforms, ensuring they are distributed, scalable, and fault-tolerant to meet the specific demands of the UK betting market and our rapidly growing user base.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

        Developing, designing, and refactoring microservices.

        Conducting code reviews and providing mentorship to team members.

        Integrating new products and building internal services to support our ecosystem.

        Taking ownership of problem-solving, collaborating with other teams when necessary.

 

OUR SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

        You have experience with common Java frameworks such as Spring and JPA

        Experience with Kotlin

        Demonstrated ability to build services from scratch.

        You’re no stranger to working with relational databases such as MySQL

        You have experience in building scalable and fault-tolerant systems and are familiar with microservice architectures

NICE TO HAVES

        Familiarity with additional technologies such as Akka, Hazelcast, Elasticsearch, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Consul, Google Cloud Platform, and BigQuery.
