Job Description

Tesla Energy Business Operations seeks a Commercial Operations Manager to lead VPP and energy program operations in Australia. Responsibilities include managing commercial operations of Tesla's VPPs, driving growth, managing third-party relationships in the retail electricity sector to optimize customer acquisition and retention, overseeing B2B and B2C retailer operations (customer account management, data management, service order execution), collaborating with external stakeholders, partnering with internal teams to build new processes, improving standard operating procedures, and reporting on operational performance. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of Australian energy market experience, proven experience with energy retailers, and a strong track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

What to Expect

The Tesla Energy Business Operations team is seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Operations Manager to lead the operations of our virtual power plant (VPP) and related energy programs across Australia.

You will oversee the commercial operations relating to Tesla’s VPPs, working closely with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and Legal.

As a key leader, you’ll develop and execute strategies to improve business processes and drive operational success. Managing a motivated and growing team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Tesla’s retail and energy services in Australia.

What You’ll Do

Lead the commercial operations of Tesla’s VPPs, driving their growth and success.
Manage relationships with third party service providers across the retail electricity sector to optimize customer acquisition, retention, and VPP growth strategies.
Oversee business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) retailer operations, focusing on customer account management, data management, and service order execution.
Collaborate with external stakeholders to ensure seamless operations and partnerships.
Partner with internal teams to build new processes that enhance operational efficiency across Tesla’s energy business.
Continuously assess and improve standard operating procedures using a first-principles approach.
Report on operational performance and market conditions to ensure alignment with both local and global business goals.

What You’ll Bring

5+ years of experience in the Australian energy market.
Proven experience working with or within energy retailers (highly desirable).
Strong track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Ability to establish and maintain cross-functional relationships.
Attention to detail, with a strong sense of urgency to achieve business objectives.
Ability to align business goals with broader market and operational trends.
