Job Summary
Job Description
As a Customer Engineer in Google Cloud's Public Sector team, you'll work with the business team to introduce Google Cloud to customers, helping them understand its potential and develop cloud solutions. You'll assess workloads for migration, plan migrations, and resolve technical roadblocks. Responsibilities include identifying business opportunities, understanding customer objections, and developing strategies to overcome technical challenges. You'll demonstrate and prototype integrations, recommend integration strategies and architectures, and lead the acquisition of new clients, building strong customer relationships. You will also share Google Cloud expertise, support technical relationships, and contribute to bid responses and product briefings.
Must have:
- 6+ years cloud native architecture experience
- Cloud computing technical engineering experience
- Professional Services/Systems Engineering experience
- Customer-facing role experience
- Work with business team to identify opportunities
- Demonstrate and prototype Google Cloud integrations
Good to have:
- Data center consolidation/migration experience
- Experience architecting/developing scalable systems
- Configuration management (Puppet, Chef, etc.)
- Networking concepts (Routing, VPNs, etc.)
- Private/hybrid/public cloud experience
- Linux and virtualization (VMware) migration

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing role.
- Experience working as a technical engineer in a cloud computing environment.
- Experience working as a member of a Professional Services/Systems Engineering team or in a customer-facing role.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with data centers consolidation, relocation, migration, or virtualization projects.
- Experience in architecting and developing software or infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems.
- Experience in configuration management (e.g., Puppet, Chef, CFEngine, Salt), and functional operations of server, storage, and network functions.
- Experience with networking concepts (e.g., Routing, VPNs, load balancers, and firewalls).
- Experience with private, hybrid, or public cloud technology, migrating Linux, including virtualization (e.g., VMware).

Responsibilities
- Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers.
- Work with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments.
- Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to implement a complete solution on Google Cloud.
- Lead prospecting and acquisition of new logos, creating and building customer relationships from scratch, and establishing yourself as a trusted advisor on their technology and business decisions.
- Share in-depth Google Cloud expertise to support the technical relationship with customers, including technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and partnering with product management to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption to Google Cloud.
