Job Description

As a Customs Agent at Maersk, you'll provide exceptional customer service, ensuring timely and efficient customs declarations, accurate duty and tax calculations, and smooth goods transit. You'll solve critical challenges impacting company and customer profitability, continuously monitor customs clearance processes, and participate in customer visits. Strong communication and collaboration with stakeholders (Customs Authorities, Maersk offices, and clients) are crucial. The role demands expertise in customs procedures, forwarding, shipping, and export processes across various modes (ocean, air, truck). Fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to clients, ensuring their needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Make sure the customs declaration is correct, duties and taxes are provided accurately, and payment is received so that goods can transit across borders smoothly and without disruption.

  • Offer solutions to challenges and resolve issues that are critical to improving performance and profitability for both our company and the customer on a day-to-day basis.

  • Continuously follow up on all customs clearance and compliance processes to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

  • Participate in customer visits to promote Customs products when required.

  • Communicate and liaise with relevant stakeholders, including Customs Authorities, Maersk offices, and the customer's organization, to build strong relationships and ensure mutual benefit.

We are looking for

  • Degree in International Trade, Logistics, or a related field.

  • At least 4-5 years of experience as a Customs Agent, with a strong understanding of export processes in ocean, air, truck, and customs locations.

  • Solid background in customs clearance and compliance, with a deep understanding of international commerce and logistics.

  • Strong knowledge of customs procedures, forwarding, and shipping.

  • Previous leadership experience is not mandatory, but highly desired for this role.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to ensure high-level communication with key stakeholders and internal team members.

  • Collaboration skills and the ability to multi-task at a high level.

  • Strong process-oriented approach to work, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Resilient team player who is goal-oriented and demonstrates a high level of commitment.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English (B2 or higher is mandatory) and fluency in Spanish (mandatory).

  • Proactive, dynamic, and well-organized person who is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and support.
