Job Description

As a Data Support Engineer at YouTube, you'll develop and maintain solutions streamlining data access, enhancing data hygiene, and improving telemetry for support teams. This role involves collaborating with data engineering teams to design, develop, and deploy data integration solutions. You will translate support requirements into technical specifications for data-driven tools and dashboards, ensuring alignment with business needs. Responsibilities also include identifying opportunities to leverage data to improve support workflows and optimize response times, providing technical guidance to other engineers, analyzing and modifying programs, and executing testing and maintenance updates. The role directly impacts the efficiency and effectiveness of YouTube's support organization.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience
4+ years experience reading code (Java, C++, Python, etc.) or system design
4+ years experience troubleshooting and advocating for customer needs
4+ years experience with 2+ of: Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, SAP

Good to have:

Master's degree
Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark)
Experience with unit testing, agile development, bug/change management
Experience with cloud-based data platforms and workflow orchestration tools
Experience with data governance and data quality best practices

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
4 years of experience reading code in a general purpose coding language (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python, Shell, Go or JavaScript, etc.) or in system design.
4 years of experience troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational, process).
4 years of experience with 2 or more of the following: Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, SAP.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree.
Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
Experience with unit testing, agile project development, and bug and change management systems.
Experience with cloud-based data platforms and with workflow orchestration tools.
Experience working with systems for collaborative code reviews, version control, continuous integration, and automated testing and support engineering.
Experience with data governance and data quality best practices, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Translate support requirements into technical specifications for data-driven tools, and dashboards ensuring alignment with business needs.
Identify opportunities to leverage data to improve support workflows, optimize response times, and enhance the overall user experience.
Provide technical guidance support to other engineers on data integration to power anchor systems, and reports related to support operations.
Analyze, review, and modify programs to increase operating efficiency or meet new requirements as well as execute testing, debugging, maintenance or program updates.
