We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

The PayPal Developer Experience Engineering Team builds platforms, experiences and tools to make the integration journey for our merchants simple, fast and effective. We are building new capabilities in the DevEx space powered by AI such as AI based code generation for our merchants, AI based searches and AI based chatbot support.

Your Way to Impact:

PayPal Developer Experience Engineering Team is looking for a strong engineering manager. We are seeking candidates with strong Gen AI and Prompt Engineering skills with hands on experience with RAG systems based on interactions with vector databases and Gen AI models. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in hiring, building and retaining top web talent, establishing scalable and sustainable architecture, collaborate on the strategy and the roadmap by working closely with the product, design and PMO organizations. The ideal candidate should have great communication skills and previous experience working with a distributed team. Experience managing or contributing to open-source projects is a plus.

Your Day to Day:

• Strong Gen AI and Prompt Engineering skills with hands on experience with RAG systems based on interactions with vector databases and Gen AI models.

• Managing a rapidly evolving technology stack on a diverse set of
  platforms ranging from JavaScript, Rest Services, React/Node, SQL/NoSQL and Java.

• Facilitating and driving key technology decisions with senior technology stakeholders.

• Attracting, retaining and building top notch front end and back end engineering talent.

• Being a mentor, technical leader and thought leader for a talented team of both front end and back end engineers, challenging them and helping them grow.

• Partnering with product and technology stakeholders to balance an aggressive roadmap against engineering principles.

• Building a culture of learning and sharing technology insights across technology teams.

• Driving consistent practices in hiring, training and development across the technology organization.

• Bringing innovation to the table that helps improve the resiliency of products you are responsible for, sell your ideas and be part of the change.

• Looking for continuous improvement in productivity and quality.

• Deep collaboration with cross functional engineering and product teams.

What You Bring:

• 5+ years of experience managing and growing engineering teams.

• 10+ years of experience with large scale, high volume websites.

• BS/MS in Computer Science, MIS or other related technical degrees.

• Solid knowledge of JavaScript/Node/React and web services (REST/JSON).

• Strong experience building and delivering end to end Gen AI solutions.

• Experience in designing, implementing and maintaining high performance, high availability (24x7) distributed and large-scale web based software applications/platforms including Distributed Caching and Messaging Systems.

• Ability to work in a fast paced Agile development environment.

• Ability to partner with business units, product management, project management and cross-functional teams to deliver business results with agility and quality.

• Experience building and managing highly effective engineering teams, conducting performance reviews, and recruiting talent.

• Excellent time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities.

• Proven results oriented person with focus on customer experience and delivering quality products.

• Solid knowledge of algorithms and design patterns.

• Entrepreneurial drive, demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative and fast paced environment.

• Demonstrated development team building and people management skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is

$96900 to $234300
