Job Description

As Engineering Manager - Technical Operations, you'll lead a team developing commerce tools for the PlayStation platform, ensuring seamless integration with external vendors. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring engineers, owning the development and maintenance of internal commerce software, building strong relationships with third-party vendors, and creating data visualizations for payment and commerce analytics. You'll work collaboratively with various teams (software development, platform engineering, data, product, PMO, and business) to achieve high efficiency within the commerce domain. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in software development and SRE, and experience with large-scale production operations.

  • BS/MS in Engineering or Computer Science

This critical leadership role will be part of our larger Technical Operations organization where we apply customer focused engineering to ensure the high reliability of our PlayStation platform, while enabling our development teams to deliver new and exciting features for our players, creators and publishers! This particular role will focus on the software development of commerce tools, and ensuring flawless technical integration, and a high degree of reliability with our various external commerce vendors.

As a strategic leader, you will contribute and drive towards the vision of SIE’s Tech Ops organization, ensuring scalable, robust solutions that support key business outcomes. You will lead a distributed team who specializes in both software development, and site reliability engineering.

This highly multi-functional role works closely with leaders and teams across software development, platform engineering, data, product, PMO, and business to gain high levels of insight, alignment and efficiency within our commerce domain.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading, mentoring, and managing a team of engineers to develop tools, safeguard our commerce platform and enable other development teams around them
  • Own the development, maintenance and day to day operations of internal commerce software tools
  • Develop close professional relationships with third party commerce vendors, and ensure they uphold high standards of operational maturity to match the demands of PlayStation's players and partners
  • Build solutions to creatively compile, visualize and share payment and commerce related analytics and data. Apply the latest techniques and tools to analyze that data, summarize patterns, and identify anomalies
  • Roadmap, and drive concurrent projects by estimating, planning, architecting and delivering against outcomes to continuously improve our business and commerce software stack

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of leading high performing engineering teams
  • Breadth and depth of experience building, developing and operating complex software platforms and highly scalable/available software
  • 7+ years of experience in Software development
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership or engineering manager role.
  • 3+ years in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or significant exposure to large scale production operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with distributed systems / micro service architecture.
  • Experience in deploying, operating, and running services in AWS and/or GCP
  • Experience with full-stack software development including, but not limited to Java API development, JavaScript, React.js, QA, SQL/NoSQL data layers, etc.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$179,300 - $268,900 USD
