Visual Concepts seeks an experienced 3D Environment Artist for its WWE 2K franchise. Responsibilities include collaborating with the art team to create visually stunning arenas and environments, ensuring performance standards, and piloting new techniques. The role requires creating style guides for outsourcing, reviewing deliverables, optimizing assets for target platforms, and managing time effectively to meet deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing at least 2 years of experience in console game environment art, proficiency in Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, and Substance Painter, and exceptional communication skills.
Must have:

  • Strong communication skills
Good to have:
  • Experience with Perforce, JIRA, Shotgun
  • Real-time, physically-based lighting

What We Need:

WWE 2K is seeking an experienced 3D Environment Artist to join our team. This position will work closely with other artists, animators, designers, and engineers to model visually striking arenas and environments for the WWE 2K franchise. We’re constantly challenging ourselves to push boundaries and looking for someone who is equally passionate about making high quality games! You will report into the Lead Environment Artist.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Work with the art director, props artists and environment team to create amazing environments which serve as extensions to the thrill and spectacle of the WWE experience
  • Work across disciplines to ensure your environments conform to performance standards and functionality requirements
  • Pilot new methods and advanced techniques to produce the best-looking environments possible
  • Create clear workbooks and style guides for outsource; review deliverables, providing concise feedback if needed, and implementing the final product
  • Ensure that assets are optimized for target platforms while retaining artistic integrity
  • Provide estimates, manage time, and hit deadlines to stay on track with set schedules and tasks

 

Who Will Be A Great Fit:

  • Artist portfolio demonstrating 2+ years of experience with console games as an Environment Artist or similar role, with at least one shipped title
  • Proficient in the creation of high-quality assets using Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop and Substance Painter
  • Experience creating physically based materials
  • Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and work efficiently within a game pipeline
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to maintain high quality assets with consistency without continuous supervision
  • Love for video games (not just ours!)

 

Might Be Nice:

  • Familiarity with asset tracking tools like Perforce, JIRA, and Shotgun
  • Experience with real-time, physically-based lighting
  • Proficient in creating collision for physics assets
  • Experience rigging and skinning assets in Maya
  • Familiarity reviewing and providing feedback to outsourcers

 

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $86,130 and $110,700 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
