Job Description

Vertigo Games seeks a Game Designer to contribute to their next-generation mobile game. Responsibilities include generating innovative game design ideas, designing and communicating game mechanics and systems, managing workload, implementing content using TypeScript and proprietary tools, and analyzing player data to inform design decisions. Ideal candidates have mobile, console, or PC game development experience, understand IP limitations, are skilled in various design areas (mechanics, UI, features), and are proficient with tools like Perforce, Jira, and Confluence. The role requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary team and a passion for crafting exceptional player experiences.
Must have:
  • Mobile, console, or PC game experience
  • Experience creating player experiences within IP boundaries
  • Skilled in multiple design areas (mechanics, UI, features)
  • Proficient with Perforce, Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • TypeScript and proprietary tools experience
  • Data analysis for design decision making

Your mission
We are Vertigo Games, developers and publishers of top-end VR titles like Metro Awakening, Arizona Sunshine, After the Fall and The 7th Guest. Our Amsterdam studio has started development of our next games, including an adventure into mobile gaming, for which we are looking to recruit a Game Designer.

Are you a Game Designer, who loves to get hands-on to flex your technical/scripting expertise and express your design passion? Then we should meet!

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate novel game design ideas and solutions in support of the project’s vision.
  • Design and communicate game mechanics and complex systems.
  • Proactively plan and manage your workload and dependencies in the short and medium term.
  • Implement robust and scalable content and mechanics in a new engine using TypeScript and proprietary tools.
  • Collect and analyze player experience data to drive design decision making.
Your profile
  • You have worked in a multidisciplinary team on a mobile, console or PC title.
  • You know how to create player experiences whilst working within the boundaries of existing IP.
  • You are skilled in multiple areas of design, including player mechanics, UI, and game features.
  • You have a good understanding of Perforce, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Discord, MS Office or equivalent tools.
  • You act as a driving force in an inclusive collective creative process, delivering the best player experience and maximizing ownership.
