Job Description

The Industry Manager, Retail at Google will develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and media agencies, focusing on increasing profitable growth. This role requires developing data-driven analyses and consultative recommendations aligned with client goals. Responsibilities include understanding customer business objectives and KPIs, structuring Joint Business Plans (JBPs), and building cross-functional relationships within Google. The ideal candidate will present successful campaign case studies and advocate for Google at industry events. The role focuses on working with large advertisers and retailers to help them achieve their business objectives using Google's range of products across various platforms.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of experience in digital advertising, sales, or marketing (or 6 years with advanced degree)
  • Experience with advertisers/agencies in digital marketing
  • Develop and maintain client relationships at all levels
  • Develop data-driven analyses and recommendations
  • Build cross-functional relationships within Google
Good to have:
  • Retail vertical experience
  • Experience with C-Level stakeholders
  • Experience in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Performance marketing with full-funnel exposure
  • Experience in South Africa or multiple markets

Job Details

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of industry experience in digital advertising, consultative sales, business development, or digital marketing, or 6 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience working with advertisers, agencies, or clients within digital marketing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working in the Retail vertical.
  • Experience in building and leveraging relationships with directors and C-Level stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience with performance marketer with full funnel marketing exposure.
  • Experience in building relationships with advertisers, agencies, or clients within the media and advertising sectors in South Africa or across multiple markets.

As the core ads sales team we work with the largest advertisers and retailer partners to help them achieve their business objectives. We advise our clients on their marketing strategy, consumer behavior and on how to apply Google's broad range of products across DVA, App Promo, YouTube Brand, Search/PMax to help them connect with their customers.

Our Large Customer Sales teams partner closely with many of the world’s biggest advertisers and agencies to develop digital solutions that build businesses and brands. We enjoy a bird’s eye view on the massive transformation occurring as advertising shifts to mobile and online platforms. We're uniquely situated to help shape how companies grow their businesses in the digital age. We advise clients on Google's broad range of products across search, video and mobile to help them connect instantly and seamlessly with their audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain customer and media agency relationships at all levels, including C-Suite level, and serve as a point of contact with the goal of deepening relationships, optimizing advertising resources and increasing the customer’s profitable growth.
  • Develop and present to customers, forward thinking, data-driven analyses and consultative recommendations that align with their goals and quantify impact opportunities with clear recommendations.
  • Demonstrate understanding of customer business and marketing objectives, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and challenges, structure Joint Business Plans (JBPs) for key customer accounts that help them achieve their goals, while transforming their growth curve.
  • Build cross-functional relationships with other teams within Google to deliver innovative advertising business solutions.
  • Develop case studies of successful campaigns in order to share insights with the broader industry and to serve as an advocate at industry events and conferences.
