Job Description

The Lead Pipeline TD-2D will lead the team's daily activities, ensuring project deadlines are met and work meets quality standards. They will estimate time and resource needs accurately, guide team development, provide performance feedback, and foster a creative work environment. Responsibilities include tool development, testing and releasing code, and creating documentation. The role requires 5+ years of experience in the animation or VFX industries. They will also be involved in strategy meetings and maintaining communication with technology leadership and stakeholders, and guide team members on development best practices.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience in animation, VFX, or games.
  • Experience leading and delivering team projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with Toon Boom Harmony solutions.
  • Excellent Python, PySide, JavaScript/QTscript skills.
  • Experience working with Git and other revision control systems.
Good to have:
  • BS+ in Computer Science, Computer Graphics is preferred.
  • Experience working with Autodesk Flow Production Tracking (Formerly Shotgrid)

Overview

WildBrain Studios is looking for a Lead Pipeline TD-2D to join our team!    
 
Our Pipeline TDs are responsible for developing and advancing our software, tools and processes in collaboration with production to bring our pipelines and projects to the next level.

 

This opportunity is required to be located within BC and is a permanent role.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You’ll Do:

  • Leadership: Take the lead of the team’s daily activities and ensure project deadlines are met, while producing work at a quality level in keeping with requirements.  Accurately estimate time and resource needs.  Partner with Technology Management to guide team development, provide performance feedback, mentor, assist with resolving performance issues, and foster a healthy and creative work environment.  
  • Strategy: Participate in Technology and Creative meetings and adjust/refine plans as required.  Maintain proactive communication with Technology leadership and stakeholders, and guide team members on development best practices.  
  • Tool Development: Work closely with key stakeholders to design and develop tools, workflows, and processes to meet production and strategic technology needs. Take ownership of the code base, actively participate in development and support, to iterate and improve tools and processes.  
  • Deployment: Test and release high quality code to production using git and our build systems.  
  • Document: Create, and update documentation and provide training for stakeholders on new tools and processes.  
  • Research: Investigate and evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to innovative developments in our 2D toolsets.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in animation, VFX, or games industries in Pipeline or Technology  
  • Demonstrated experience leading and delivering team projects  
  • Established track record of developing, shipping and supporting in-application solutions using Toon Boom Harmony.  Experience with other 2D focused DCC applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Flash/Animate, Storyboard Pro, and familiarity with their relevant APIs is a bonus
  • Excellent Python, PySide, JavaScript/QTscript skills, other languages a plus
  • Experience working with Git and other revision control systems  
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills  

Nice to Have:  

  • BS+ in Computer Science, Computer Graphics is preferred  
  • Experience working with Autodesk Flow Production Tracking (Formerly Shotgrid) 

 

Pay Range: $2300 - $3050 per week.

Candidates are paid within the range posted, but their exact pay will vary based on the level, responsibilities and expectations of the role. We also take into consideration the experience and skills that individual brings, with consideration of our internal equity.
